William Elmer St. Germaine, age 75, of Valley City, ND, formerly of St. John, ND passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at SMP-St. Raphael, Valley City, ND.

William Elmer St. Germaine was born in 1950 in St. John, North Dakota, to Laura Venn and Robert William St. Germaine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Laura, and his siblings, George and Judy.

William was a lifelong artist and was most proud of his career in advertising. He was a quiet man, both in voice and manner, but he had a presence — his mother used to say she loved watching him walk into a room because he always dressed so well that people would stop talking and look. He liked a nice suit and a good pair of dress shoes, and he wore them well.

He was a man of simple pleasures who led a simple life. He loved an ice cream cone as much as he loved his broccoli, drank more coffee than any human probably should, and never met a dog he didn't like. He loved to walk, especially around Lake Calhoun during his years in Minneapolis. His heart was always divided between the Turtle Mountains and Minneapolis—he loved both so evenly that he could never quite settle, spending his life moving back and forth between the two.

William loved his children and grandchildren and was proud of them. He is survived by his daughter Nancy, his son William, and his grandsons Schae, Nicho, and Wahkon St. Germaine.

He was loved and will be missed.
