Bill Bucher, age 86, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at his home.

William "Bill" Emil Bucher was born on June 18, 1939 at the Rolette Hospital, Rolette, ND, the oldest son of Norbert Peter and Leona Barbara (Hofmann of Albany, MN) Bucher.  He was raised in Bisbee, ND, attending elementary and high school there, graduating with the class of 1957.  While growing up, Bill helped his father farm on his grandfather's homestead two miles south of Bisbee.  Bill was an altar boy under Father John Axtman at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Bisbee.  He was there when the bishop dedicated the catholic church in the early 1950's along with his brother, Jerry.

Bill attended Dakota Business College at Fargo under F. L. Watkins.  After graduation, Jim Krick Sr. mentioned an opening at Farmers Union Oil Company at Rolla and Bill was hired by Glen Rudell in the office in 1961, starting a 35-year career.  He later retired as general manager. Bill then worked at LaDots after Kenny Davis hired him, working in the office, and retiring after 24 years. Bill was a member of the Air National Guard in Fargo, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus of Rolla, and enjoyed his time with a group of snowmobilers who took annual trips to Yellowstone.  Bill also took flying lessons from Leonard Krech. He never married but was a wonderful brother and uncle to his nieces and nephews. Bill will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Bill is survived by his brothers, Jerry (Beth) Bucher of Rio Rancho, NM and Jim (Donna) Bucher of Rolla; nephews, Matt and Ben Bucher; niece, Kayla Mitchell; and great nephews and nieces, Braden and Brooklyn Bucher, Jack and Norah Bucher, and Trevor DeCoteau.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Leona Bucher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Rolla, ND with visitation One Hour prior to the funeral mass. Burial will take place at Bisbee Catholic Cemetery, Bisbee, ND in the spring. Father Thai Arul presiding.
