Obituary

Wilfred Bercier Sr., age 67, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, ND.

Wilfred Earl Bercier Sr., "Niibaaii Omashkooz Inini Niibaaii" Standing Elk Man, was born on January 14, 1957 in Belcourt, ND to Leo "Sisco" Bercier Sr. and Delvina (DeCoteau) Houle.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well. Wilfred enlisted in the United States Marines and received an honorable discharge.  He furthered his education for two years, obtaining an associate degree.  Wilfred was united in marriage to Sandra Falcon and together they raised Lucinda, Wendy, Genea, and Wilfred Jr. He later married Florene LaFountain and they later divorced.  Wilfred enjoyed the outdoors fishing and he enjoyed music, playing the harmonica, violin, and singing.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and liked cruising with Wendy, often telling her to "give it the onion!" Wilfred loved spending time with his family, especially his children and his grandchildren.  He was a fun-loving man, often the life of the party, always able to have a good time with family and friends. Wilfred was dearly loved by his family and will be forever missed.

Wilfred Sr. is survived by his children, Lucinda (Terry) DeCoteau of Belcourt, Wendy (Richard) Beston of Minot, Genea (Jordan Patton) Bercier of Belcourt, and Wilfred Bercier Jr. of Minot; 14 grandchildren, Mahkya DeCoteau, Allie DeCoteau, TJ Linus DeCoteau Jr., Wilford Bercier III, Waylon Bercier, Weston Bercier, Walker Bercier, Laney Bercier, Cassandra Bercier, Rylee Bercier, Conner Bercier, Chase Bercier, Diamond DeCoteau, and AJ DeCoteau; two great grandchildren, Hazel DeCoteau and Aniyah Bercier; siblings, Morgan Bercier, Leona "Sugar" (Tom) Bercier, both of Belcourt, Tanya Nicole Bercier, Leo (Nadine) Bercier, and Bridger Bercier, all of Great Falls, MT; and many nieces and nephews.
