Warren Gourneau Sr., age 66, of Dunseith, ND passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Warren Allan Gourneau Sr. was born on October 7, 1958 in Belcourt, ND to Isadore and Evelyn (Brunelle) Gourneau. He was raised in Belcourt and attended St. Anns Mission School until 8th grade and graduated from Belcourt High School. He furthered his education in Bismarck obtaining an electrical certificate.  Warren was united in marriage to Pauline Gladue on July 18, 1980 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. Together they raised four children, Warren Jr., Ryan, Jeremy, and Bradley.  He worked as an electrician for many years with the IBEW Union 714. He proudly worked as a carpenter working various locations around the Turtle Mountains and retired upon coming ill. He did continue to work and build around the house, even up to a week prior to his passing. Warren enjoyed riding in his 1961 GMC truck with a thumpr cam. He always wanted a truck that was loud and ran like the dragster car. He really enjoyed hunting and fishing with the family. He truly was a "Fisher of Men".  He also enjoyed being on the tractor and being in the hay field as much as he could.  He was a hard worker that taught hard work ethic.  He would always say "Do it right the 1st time so you won't be doing it a 2nd time."  He liked running chainsaw and the work that entailed.  Warren liked to cook various dishes, especially wild game.  He was known for his macaroni hamburger soup to which it got named "Papa's Soup" by the grandkids.  He was devoted to his Catholic faith throughout his life, sharing his devotion with his family and to many others through Holy Spirit written poems.  He greatly enjoyed Cursillo weekends, Life in the Spirit seminars, Charismatic Group gatherings, St. Ann prayer service group that tended to our community as well as the surrounding communities, and Ultreya and Divine Mercy Sunday weekends. He spent many and most minutes of each day praying regardless of his location.  Multiple rosaries were said each day as well as morning and evening prayers.  He always stressed to pray for the Holy Souls in purgatory with the intercessory prayer of St. Gertrude.  It was not often when he was sitting and not praying.  He was a prayer warrior for our family and countless others, and will continue to do so in Heaven. Warren loved time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and siblings.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.  Warren always lived by our Cursillo motto: Make a friend, Be a friend, and Bring a friend to Christ.

Warren is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Gourneau of Dunseith; children, Warren Jr. (Deanna) Gourneau of Dunseith, Ryan (Kari) Gourneau of Dunseith, Jeremy (Kristen) Gourneau of Belcourt, and Bradley Gourneau of Dunseith; grandchildren, Kennedy, Ryan II, Kaylub, Avril, Kinsleigh, Sadie, Easton, Hudson, and Morgan Gourneau; great grandchild, Scarlett Marcellais; siblings, Shirley Gourneau of Rolla, Isadore Gourneau Jr. of Belcourt, Carrie (Lawrence) Wilkie of Belcourt, Debbie Marion of Belcourt, Denise (Leonard) Keplin of Belcourt, Randall (Lila) Gourneau of Belcourt, Clark Gourneau of Belcourt, and Colleen (Lee) Davis of Belcourt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Vernon Gourneau and Douglas Gourneau; grandchildren, Rose Gourneau, Hunter Rose Gourneau, Sayviar Warren Gourneau, Rory Gourneau, and Camden Gourneau, sister-in-law's, Bertie, Karen, and Phyllis, and brother-in-law's, James Martin and Robert Marion Sr.

Casket Bearers are Warren Gourneau Jr., Ryan Gourneau, Jeremy Gourneau, Bradley Gourneau, Ryan Gourneau II, and Kaylub Gourneau.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends. Music by Leonard Keplin, Alvin Poitra, and Craig Lunday. Eucharistic Gifts by his granddaughters.  Readers are Brenda Trottier and Patti Wilkie.

A visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Queen of Peace, next to St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.  Burial will follow the funeral mass at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. Father Jeff Eppler presiding. A meal will be held at KC Hall, Belcourt, ND following services.
