Wanda Gourneau, age 65, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

Wanda Lou Gourneau was born on June 30, 1954 in Belcourt, ND to Arthur "Gentle Ben" LaFountain and Geraldine (Houle) LaFountain. She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education there as well. Wanda furthered her education at Turtle Mountain Community College for two years for business. She was united in marriage to John E. Gourneau on November 23, 1974 in Seattle, Wash. They raised three children, LJ, Crystal, and Wayne. Wanda worked as a waitress in Minot, ND and in California and also for the Turtle Mountain Shelter as a teacher aide where she unknowingly had a wonderful impact on the lives of many children who remember her fondly. She had a heart of gold with her meek and mild personality meanwhile possessing a strong and fiery spirit who loved life to its fullest. Wanda was a country girl through and through, loving the outdoors. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Wanda will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family members and many friends.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 45 years, John E. Gourneau of Belcourt; children, LJ Gourneau of Belcourt, Crystal Gourneau of Aberdeen, SD, and Wayne Lee (Heather Vondal) Morin of Rolla; nine grandchildren, Krystel, Baby John, Seth, Rena, Reonna, Daniel, Baby Wayne, Mea, and Tyler; three great grandchildren, King Kyree Joseph Banks, Marianna Morin, and Kyis Morin; and siblings, Loretta "Shaggy" Belgarde of Belcourt, Mary (Don) Dionne of Belcourt, and Arthur "Chiboy" LaFountain Jr. of Belcourt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Geraldine LaFountain and sister, Doranna "Tweety" Enno.
