Walter Kriewald, age 80, of Rolla, ND passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.
Walter E. Kriewald was born on July 28, 1939 in Carrington, ND to Howard and Myrtle (Andrews) Kriewald. He was raised in Carrington and completed his education there as well, graduating in 1957. Walter enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1958 and received an honorable discharge in 1962. He was united in marriage to Janice Nichols on March 31, 1962 in Carrington, ND. Together they raised three children, Debbie, Joe, and Gayle. Walter worked at Theel Motors and then at Munro Builders Supply for many years in the lumber yard. His faith was never far from his heart as it brought him much joy and he rarely missed a Sunday service at church. Walter liked spending time with his pick-up driving around to make sure the town was running smoothly and was readily available to help out his family members or any neighbors in need. Walter loved his family dearly. He will be forever remembered and greatly missed.
Walter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice Kriewald of Rolla; children, Debbie (Craig) Disher of Rolla, Joe (Dawn) Kriewald of Grand Forks, and Gayle (Darren) Albrecht of Grafton; six grandchildren, Kelsey (JayMe) Harwood, Jaden (Alexis) Disher, Jaxon Kriewald, Payton Kriewald, Dalton Albrecht, and Brandon Albrecht; two great grandchildren, Reed Disher and Marques Whitefeather; and a sister, Jean Ellingson.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Myrtle Kriewald, brother, Bob Kriewald, and sister, Bev Nelson.
Honorary Bearers are all family and friends. Music by John Halone. Military Honors by the Fred C. Wagner American Legion of Rolla and the Military Funeral Honor Guard of Grand Forks.
A Memorial Service and Burial will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Rolla City Cemetery, Rolla, ND with Pastor Rick Craig officiating.
