Obituary

Theresa Helen (Martell) Patnaude was born on September 19, 1937 to George and Mary (Pays) Martell in Belcourt, ND.  She passed away on June 28, 2022 surrounded by her family in Belcourt, ND.  Theresa was born and raised in Belcourt.  She married Stanislaus "Sonny" Patnaude on March 11, 1957.  She worked at the Jewel Plant in Rolla in the 1950's with her sister, Rosie, and later helped her cook at the retirement home.  She also enjoyed bowling back then.  Theresa loved to garden and liked canning her pickles and beets.  She liked to bake and was well known in the community for her "bangs" frybread and gullet.  She enjoyed getting out of the house to go get her hair fixed by her sister Betty.  She would make her weekly trips to grocery shop and visit around with community members.  Theresa enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, children and siblings that would stop by and visit.  She always had a pot of coffee ready for anyone who would stop by.

Theresa is survived by her children, Stanley (Joann) Patnaude, Curtis Patnaude, Edward Patnaude, Wilma Patnaude, Lisa (Ronnie) Belgarde, all of Belcourt, Margaret (Charles) Weaver of Goldsboro, NC, and Irene Martell of Bismarck; sisters, Betty (Richard) Marcellais, Stella (Gary) Renault, Sandra Martell, and Carol Belgarde, all of Belcourt; brothers, Frank and Gilbert Martell, both of Belcourt; and her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband "Sonny," her parents, George and Mary Martell, brothers, Clifford Martell, Patrick Martell, Robert Martell, George Martell Jr., and Raymond Martell, sister, Rose (Martell) Sutton, brother-in-law's, Roger Sutton and Raymond "Picky" Belgarde.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Turtle Mountain Worship Center, Belcourt, ND.  Burial will follow services at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
