T. Eldore S. Gilje, age 87, of Rolette, ND passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby, ND.

T. Eldore S. Gilje was born on May 5, 1932 in Rolette, ND to Torsten and Selma (Soine) Gilje. He was raised in Rolette and completed his education there as well, graduating from Rolette High School in 1951. He was united in marriage to Lylas Larson on June 26, 1960 in Williston, ND. They met in Rugby at a Young Adults Club and were happily married for 59 years. Together raised four children, Brenda, Todd, Errol, and Brian. Eldore worked on the family farm his entire life, retiring in 1999 at the age of 67 years old. He also worked part time for Kavli's Trucking, ASCS Office, and driving school bus for Harlow's. While visiting family in Washington State for Christmas, Eldore realized the value of a break from the farm. Each year he took the family on vacation exploring the Canadian Rockies, Black Hills, Yellowstone and many more places. After retirement, he and Lylas enjoyed traveling together including trips to Alaska, Norway, Denmark, and a month-long Amtrak trip around the United States and another trip taking grandkids to National Parks on the way to California for a family wedding. Eldore enjoyed music, photography, often taking pictures of fall colors, sunsets, family, friends, and farming life. He liked collecting toys, golfing, and his morning coffee with the guys. Eldore loved time spent with his family members, friends, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Eldore is survived by his wife, Lylas Gilje of Rolette; daughter, Brenda Gilje of Brooklyn Park, MN; sons, Todd (Patty) Gilje of Crookston, MN, Errol Gilje (girlfriend Angie Jenkins) of Rolette, and Brian (Kari) Gilje of Gwinner; six grandchildren, Dylan, Nichol, Dustin, Mackenna, Jaden, and Carter; two great grandchildren, Jessie and Kingston; Dwight Gilje (cousin who was like a brother); sister-in-law, Leona Larson; and brother-in-laws, Glen (Barbara) Larsen, Merlin (Liz) Larsen, and Loren (Mary) Larsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Raymond Larson, and sister-in-law, Judi Larsen.

Casket Bearers are Jay Myhre, Mark Myhre, Steven Gilje, Andy Gilje, Jim Larson, and Andrew Larsen. Honorary Bearers are all family and friends.

A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette, ND with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Wendesday, October 16, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the church with Pastor Jim Odden officiating. Burial will follow in Westland Cemetery, Rolette, ND.
