Stanley Lee Patnaude, age 70, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Stanley Lee Patnaude was born on May 19, 1956, to Stanislaus “Sonny” and Theresa (Martell) Patnaude in Belcourt, ND.

Stanley was born and raised in Belcourt. He attended Turtle Mountain Community High School and graduated in May of 1973. Following high school, Stanley enlisted in the National Guard, where he served from 1975-1981.

Stanley began working at the Turtle Mountain Manufacturing Plant in the late 1970’s. In 1988, he began working for the Turtle Mountain Housing Authority, where he dedicated more than three decades of service before retiring in 2022.

Stanley enjoyed spending time outdoors and was a true jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed carpentry and mechanic work and was always willing to help family members with mechanical issues or offer advice on carpentry projects. Stanley enjoyed many things, including riding horses, cutting grass, pushing snow, riding snowmobiles, searching the internet for good deals, watching old Western movies, and watching YouTube.

Stanley is survived by his children, Patricia Champagne, Stanley (Christa) Champagne, and James Champagne; his sisters, Irene Martell, Margaret (Charles) Weaver, Lisa (Ronald) Belgarde, and Wilma Patnaude; and his brothers, Curtis Patnaude and Edward Patnaude. He is also survived by his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews and his friend, Joann Dionne; aunts, Betty (Richard) Marcellais, Shirley Martell, Carol (Martell) Belgarde, Stella (Gary) Renault and Sandra Martell; and his uncles, Frank Martell and Gilbert Martell.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Stanislaus “Sonny” and Theresa Patnaude, his grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Stanley will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand, his many talents, his hard work, and the knowledge he was always willing to share with those around him.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Turtle Mountain Worship Center, Belcourt, North Dakota. A meal will follow services. Burial will take place at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. Pastor Cary Enno officiating.
