Obituary

Sherry Slater, age 62, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, ND.

Sherry Frances "Peaches" Slater was born on March 1, 1959 in St. Louis, MO to Francis and Rose Anne (Wilkie) Slater.  She was raised in St. John and completed her education at Belcourt High School.  She furthered her education at UTTC taking medical classes for two years.  Sherry was the proud mother of two daughters, Shelby and Valene.  Sherry worked many jobs throughout the years including Turtle Mountain Housing Authority office, Sky Dancer Casino, as a cook at UTTC in Bismarck, and most important and favorite was to take care of her "Pixie, Pooh-Pooh", her puppy, as they were side-kicks and BFF's, as well as her grandbabies and great granddaughter.  She loved them all so very much!  She enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her brother-in-law, Roland and sister, Rhonda, Bonanza Bingo on the Rez, Bar Bingo in Bismarck, watching television, especially the news and politics, and being at the lake in her younger years.  Sherry loved time spent with her family members and friends, going home on the holidays, going to the casino on occasion, and enjoying the food they shared together.  Sherry will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Sherry is survived by her daughters, Shelby Slater of Bismarck and Valene Slater of Bismarck; six grandchildren, Layne Slater, Rose and Brandon (Slater) Kuntz, Jazmine and Jared Jr. Falcon, Lorenzo Fuentes, and Mystique Fuentes; one great grandchild, Elliana Rose Slater; sisters, Rhonda Gourneau and Ellen LaFromboise; and longtime friend and puppy, Pixie.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, baby brother, Lance Joseph Slater, and grandparents, John and Mary Slater and Louis and Eliza (DeCoteau) Wilkie.

Honorary Bearers are all family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Father Richard Fineo presiding.  Burial will take place at a later date.
