Sheila Malaterre, age 68, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Sheila Rosalyn Malaterre was born on July 18, 1957 in North Dakota to Fabian and Lucy (Parisien) Short.  She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education there as well.  Sheila was a wonderful homemaker and mother.  She was the proud mother of six children, Jolene, Gary, William, Bobby Jo, Crysten, and Crystal. Sheila liked painting and adult coloring.  She enjoyed visiting and having coffee with family and friends.  Sheila had a wonderful sense of humor.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Sheila is survived by her children, Jolene Short of Belcourt, Gary Short of Fargo, William Nadeau of Fargo, Bobby Jo Counts of Belcourt, and Crysten Belgarde of Montana; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; siblings, Ronnie Short, Rickie Short, and Joyce Short, all of Belcourt; and nieces and nephews.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Crystal Belgarde, grandson, Zayden Belgarde, brother, Bily Charbonneau, and sisters, Betty Ann Charbonneau and Caroline Short.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. Father Michael Slovak presiding.
