Obituary

Sharon Parisien, age 66, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at her home.

Sharon Ann Parisien was born on May 5, 1959 in Belcourt, ND to Francis and Annabelle (Dussome) Parisien, attending Wahpeton Boarding School from the age five to 15 years old. Sharon, later furthered her education at Turtle Mountain College obtaining an associate degree and then Minot State University for her bachelor's degree in paralegal studies. She worked as a Legal Advocate and Highway Safety Director for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. She used this education as a foundation for justice and positive change. She became a dedicated voice for awareness and reform. Her advocacy led to her being nationally recognized as one of the top 20 most influential women in her community for her work with M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) leading to many meaningful legal reforms on her reservation.

Sharon was the proud mother of four children, Melanie, Wayne Jr., Melissa, Faith. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing/fishing derby's, lake days, and especially Sunday's, her favorite. She loved to wear different styles of hats. She was the best at story telling. She could tell and share her stories for hours. She was a wonderful baker; her bread was well known. Sharon loved time spent with her family members. She was a devoted grandmother and held each of them close to her heart. In her later years she took in her grandchildren Liam and Walker, a reflection of her unwavering commitment to family. She held a strong faith, reading her Bible regularly; ensuring each of her grandchildren were baptized and confirmed, reflecting her enduring love and commitment to her beliefs. Sharon will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Sharon is survived by her children, Melanie Jeanotte of Minot, Melissa Jeanotte of Rolla, and Faith Jeanotte of Minot; 16 grandchildren, Giovonni Jeanotte, Avery Jeanotte, Asia Jeanotte, Micheal Jeanotte, Shane Brunelle Jr, Tatum Ayala, Marissa Malaterre, Danissa Malaterre, Daniel Malaterre Jr., Jett Jeanotte-Monette, Liam Jeanotte, Wilfred Bercier Jr., Waylon Bercier, Weston Bercier, Laney Pederson, Walker Jeanotte; five great grandchildren; lifelong friend, Wayne Jeanotte Sr.; sisters, Theresa Brunelle of Belcourt; Viola Chase of Belcourt; and many kids that she took in as her very own children and grandchildren.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, son, Wayne Jeanotte Jr., brothers, James, Raymond, Roger, Roy, and Dave Parisien, and Francis Vivier.

Casket Bearers are grandsons, Isaiah Lilley, Jordan Dobnak, Wilfred Bercier jr., Daniel Malaterre Jr., Weston Bercier, and Michael Jeanotte. Honorary Bearers are all family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass with Father Sam Medley presiding. Readers are Dustin Monette and Asia Jeanotte. Eucharistic Gifts by Jett Jeanotte-Monette and Walker Jeanotte. Eulogy by Danissa Malaterre and Asia Jeanotte. Music provided by Chad Marcellais. A meal to follow the service will be held at the Fiddler's Hall. Burial will take place in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND at a later date.
