Obituary

Sadie Lynn Azure, age 28, of Belcourt, ND went home on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND, for Catholics, this is the Hour of Mercy – and she was welcomed into the arms of our savior – Jesus.  Fly high Sadie girl.

Sadie Lynn Azure was a fighter, coming into this world on November 1, 1994, on All Saints Day at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND to Ernie and Loretta (Laducer) Azure.  She weighed in at only 2 pounds 1 oz.  Sadie was baptized into the Catholic faith when she was only two days old because of her premature birth.  Her Godparents are Uncle Curtis and Auntie Donna.

Sadie was able to receive her sacrament of confession, first communion, and confirmation with the help of her Auntie Jeanita.  She was very proud to participate in her Catholic faith.  Sadie had to overcome many obstacles in her short life-she endured many surgeries and much pain but kept moving toward her goals.  She was tiny but fierce.  Sadie was raised in Belcourt and attended school at Turtle Mountain Community Schools, "If you're lucky enough in life, God allows for you to cross paths with extraordinary people.  Sadie was one of those people."  This quote is from Sadie's paraprofessional in high school, which was common knowledge within the community.  Sahe was loved by all.  While at TMCHS, Sadie participated in the Special Olympics and was proud of her various ribbons.  Sadie had a desire to help people and wanted to work as a helper.   She worked as a waitress at Wild Rose Café where she made friends with all the grandpas having morning coffee.  She remembered all their birthdays, family birthdays, and any other days that were important to them – you see Sadie had a gift with numbers and a memory full of information from relatives and people she encountered during her daily life.  How old are you?  When is your birthday? Who are your kids?  When are their birthdays? What side of the bed do you sleep on?  Sadie remembered all the answers and what day of the week they would fall on next year.  She was also a kitchen worker at Belcourt Retirement Home and worked with Kalix in Belcourt and Rolla.  Sadie graduated from TMCHS in May of 2013, an independent soul who didn't like to be told no.  She worked on her goal to life independently and she accomplished this goal and moved into her apartment at Kalix in Rolla, ND.

Sadie's favorite snack was Doritos and loved homemade bread toast.  Her favorite television shows were The Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal, Judge Judy, and Wheel of Fortune. Ernie tells the story of her play acting as Vanna White and him guessing the letters.  She also played and placed the letters she wanted, and of course, she always won!  Sadie also liked planning for Memorial Day-she called family and let them know what they were expected to bring.   Her favorite activity was talking on the phone.  She had her daily to call list and made sure to visit relatives on the phone daily.  Sadie was loved and cherished – she will be missed.  She was an example of what can be accomplished with determination.  She taught us many lessons and will continue to be remembered with love.

Sadie is survived by her parents, Ernie and Loretta Azure, Belcourt;  brothers, Austin (Jasmine) Laducer and Trevor Azure;  sisters, CeAnna (Taylor) Peach and Delanie Azure; nieces and nephews, Trevor (TJ) Azure Jr., Carter Azure, Jaylen Azure, Ava Laducer, Alijah Laducer, and Austin Laducer Jr.; grandmother, Bunny Laducer;  aunts and uncles, Curtis and Julie Laducer, Brenda DeCoteau, Patty Laducer, all of Belcourt, Eddie and Joyce Laducer, Parshall, ND, Donna (Billy) Mcewen, Steve Azure, Blaine Azure, Gaylen Azure, Jeanita (Kerry) Salmeron, all of Belcourt, and Wanda (Russell) Swagger, Bismarck, ND; Best Friend, Nataya Keplin; and many cousins.
