Obituary

Ruth Jolliffe, age 96, of St. John, ND passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at her home.

Ruth Alvenia Jolliffe was born on February 26, 1925 in Hutchinson Township, ND to Edward and Grace (Geer) Haas with assistance from midwife, Mary Phelps. She was raised in the St. John area and completed her education there as well.  Ruth was united in marriage to Harley Jolliffe on April 20, 1950 in Rolla, ND at St. Joachim.  Together they raised two children, John and Sandra.  Ruth worked in the shipyards in Bremerton, Wash. in her earlier years and then side by side with her husband on the family farm near St. John.  She loved being outdoors, riding horses, gardening, and above all caring for and working with animals.  She loved her little dogs who were her companions.  Ruth felt at peace when she was outdoors doing what she loved.  She was a talented painter as well.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Ruth is survived by her son, John Jolliffe of St. John; daughter, Sandra Foley of Minot; a grandson, Justin (Kari) Sanders; five great grandchildren, Gaven, Zoe, Briana, Caleb, and Zacari; sister-in-law, Lorraine Haas; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Grace Haas, husband, Harley Jolliffe, sisters, Lilly Johnston and Beatrice Bromberg, brothers, Jim, Leo, and Bob Haas, son-in-law, Michael Foley, brother-in-law's, Arley, Lee, Ted, Clint, Floyd, Lyle, and James Jolliffe, Royce Johnston, James Bromberg, Charley Ankeny, and Vic Hughes, sister-in-law's, Skinny, Jenny, and Amelia Haas, Leah Ankeny, Arlene Hughes, Edna, Lorna, and Gerri Jolliffe.

Honorary Pallbearers are Oscar, Rick, Larry, Jimmy, and Gary Haas, and Billy Johnston.  Special extended family of caregivers, Teri King, Beverly Neameyer, Breann Nielsen, Lynette Thomas, Jeanelle Enno, Holly Short, and Hannah Leonard who loved Ruth dearly and all other caregivers who took such good care of her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church, St. John, ND with Dave Schnackenberg presiding.  Burial will follow services at Mill Lake Cemetery, St. John, ND.
