Obituary

Rudolph T. "Rudy" Ryyth, age 103, of Rolla, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Maple Manor Care Center, Langdon, ND.

Rudolph T. "Rudy" Ryyth was born on March 26, 1920 in Painesville, Michigan to Ernest and Edna (Juntunen) Ryyth. He was raised in Rock Lake, ND and completed his education there as well. Rudy furthered his education at Minot State University obtaining a Master's Degree in education. Rudy enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and received an honorable discharge in 1945. He was united in marriage to Betty Perdew and together they had five children, Sherry, Terry, Bonnie, Ric, and Rob. Betty preceded him in death. Rudy worked at various schools teaching including in California, Egeland, Leeds, and Rolla, where he retired. Rudy was united in marriage to Helen (Follman) Guilbert in 2008. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time outdoors on the course. Rudy will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Helen Ryyth of Rolla; children, Terry Collins of Rock Hill, SC and Sherry Lee of Rolla; 15 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; and 5 step-children.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty Ryyth, daughter, Bonnie Johnson, sons, Ric and Rob Ryyth, and siblings, Ray, Bill, and Delmer Ryyth and June Holum.

Music by Carolyn Heller and congregational hymns.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND. Pastor Nicholas Rohde presiding. Burial will take place in Sarles, ND at a later date. Military Honors by the Fred C. Wagner American Legion Post 235 of Rolla and the North Dakota Military Funeral Guard.
