Roland Gourneau, age 70, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Roland Lee Gourneau was born on April 18, 1954 in Belcourt, ND to Edward and Ruth (St. Arnaude) Gourneau. He was raised in Chicago, IL and Minot for a short time before completing his childhood and education in Belcourt. Roland was united in marriage to Rhonda Slater on August 31, 1973 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, cherishing 50 years together. They raised a son, Cory and daughter, Corene. Roland worked for the Turtle Mountain Tribe as a court bailiff and in housing security for many years. He was a gifted musician throughout his life starting at just 6 years old when he performed on the Pat Bearsdale Show. He grew to love music at a very young age which continued into his adult life. Roland had a karaoke business and played in a band as well. He could fix any instrument to perfection, often incorporating "mother of pearl" into many of the guitars that he owed personally. Roland could fix just about anything from small engines to musical instruments and loved to tinker. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed time spent with them. As well playing board games and horseshoes with his brothers. Roland will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Roland is survived by his wife, Rhonda Gourneau of Belcourt; son, Cory (Sheylenne) Gourneau of St. John; daughter, Corene Dockter of Devils Lake; grandchildren, Caleesha (William) King, Brock Keplin, Cory Jr. (Marlee) Gourneau, Kass (Jayden) Gourneau, and Riley Gourneau, all of St. John; great grandchildren, William King Jr., Casandra King, Caylee King, Shailynn King, Eden Keplin, Reigny Keplin, and Russell Keplin; siblings, Randy Gourneau, Edward Jr. (Bonnie) Gourneau, Rodney "Buck" Gourneau, Patsy (Russell) Bruce, all of Belcourt, and Richard Gourneau of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.

Casket Bearers are Riley Gourneau, Kass Gourneau, Cory Gourneau Jr., Brock Keplin, William King, Derrick Gourneau, Frank Slater, Curtis Thomas, and Daniel Gourneau. Honorary Bearers are all musicians, nephews and family. Eucharistic Gifts by William King Jr. and Casandra King. Rosary led by Sandy Thomas and Jackie Giron. Readers are Caleesha King and Cheryl Hanlan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow the funeral mass at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.  Father Sam Medley presiding. A meal will follow and be held at KC Hall, Belcourt, ND, all are welcome to join the family to honor the life of Roland.
