Obituary

Roger Bruce, age 67, of St. John, ND passed away on Thursday December 31, 2020 in Minot, ND.

Roger Allen Bruce was born on June 30, 1953 in Rolette County to Robert and Ann (Pettie) Bruce.  He attended school in Belcourt, ND and was well known in the Turtle Mountain Area as the Golden Gloves State Boxing Champion in the mid-1970s.  He furthered his education at the University of North Dakota and Seattle Washington where he obtained his Physician Assistant Certification.

He held many different jobs in his lifetime.  He worked on the family ranch in the 70s, the Tomahawk Bar in Belcourt, ND as a bartender, a private pilot transporting medical staff from one location to another, Gold Mines in Nevada, Road Construction in South Dakota, A Truancy Officer at the Belcourt High School, Physician's Assistant for the Indian Health Service in Belcourt, ND and later as a Medical Technician and a member of the Divers Rescue Team in Belcourt, ND.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved hunting, fishing and all different kinds of adventures.  He enjoyed drag racing, building racecars, snowmobiling, riding ATVs, horseback riding, motorcycle riding and he was also an accomplished cook, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Roger will be remembered as a daredevil with the biggest heart, only surpassed by his smile that could light up a room.  He had a protective spirit that would put those around him at ease and he will be missed by his family and friends who were always seemingly on the teasing end of his jokes and conversations.

Roger is survived by his devoted wife Della.  His sons Judd (Sara) Bruce of St. John, Jody (Lyndsay) Bruce of Belcourt; Stepsons William Lunde of Rolette, Waylon (Shari) Lunde of Granville, and Wesley (Ashley) Lunde of Cando; Siblings Robert Bruce of Belcourt, Rodney (Dixie) Bruce of Fargo, David (Betty) Bruce of Belcourt, Pauline Bruce of Aberdeen SD and twelve beautiful grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene Bruce and step daughter Chenoa Porter.

There will be no public funeral services and condolences may be sent to his wife and children.
