Roderick Poitra, age 64, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Sanford Hospital, Bismarck, ND.

Roderick Poitra was born on November 7, 1959 in Belcourt, ND to Arlind Sr. and Rose (Nadeau) Poitra.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education at Belcourt High School.  He furthered his education at college for one year.  Roderick was the proud father of a daughter, Suni and step-son, Lyle.  Roderick enjoyed all sports including football, cheering on his favorite team, the Vikings, basketball, and going bowling.  He worked at a bowling alley in the 90's.  Roderick worked at the Sky Dancer Casino in Belcourt, retiring in 2017.  He enjoyed the casino and bingo every Thursday.  He liked math and playing cards, especially pinochle.  Roderick was a very giving person and chose to be an organ donor as his final gift before his death.  He loved time with family and with his life partner, Roberta Davis.  Roderick will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Roderick is survived by his life partner, Roberta Davis of Belcourt; daughter, Suni Davis of Belcourt; step-son, Lyle Davis of Belcourt; siblings, Phillip (Debbie) Poitra, Cary (Jodi) Poitra, Arlind Poitra Jr., Dana DeCoteau, Yvonne Aiken, Yvette (Larry) Cree, Wanda Poitra, Arlene Larken, Sylvia Duchaine, and Jerri Reile; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Roderick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, David Poitra Sr. and Hubert Parisien, step-father, Gilbert DeCoteau, and father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Florence Davis.

A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 AM at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.  Burial will take place at his home.  Services and meal will be at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.
