Roberta "Marie" Wilkie, age 73, of Belcourt, ND entered eternal life on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Roberta "Marie" Wilkie was born on April 28, 1947 to Robert Wilkie and Lucy (Poitra) Wilkie in Belcourt, ND. She was raised in the rural Dunseith area. Marie attended school in rural Dunseith and then in Rolla. She attended high school at Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, SD. After high school, she attended beauty school in Jamestown, ND. Marie was united in marriage to Duane "Jimmy" Brunelle on October 16, 2000 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. She was the proud mother of six children, Tracey, Jami, Janel, Michael, Brenda, and Ira. Marie worked for Jollie's Fairway in Belcourt for many years as the produce manager, then the flower shop manager, and then became the store manager. She also worked as a manager at the Bingo Palace in Belcourt. Marie loved time spent with her family and her grandchildren who were treated very special and adored. Catching up on the latest news with her sisters was a favorite pastime. Talking on the telephone, especially the last 18 months, was her way to stay connected to family and friends. Marie loved music and especially listening to the love of her life, Jimmy, playing his guitar and singing. She enjoyed listening to the Classic Country channel and KEYA was always on in her kitchen. Marie enjoyed watching television, especially the Food Network. She was an amazing cook and baker who shared her gift with everyone who visited her. You could count on a delicious meal and dessert coming from her kitchen. She also enjoyed trying new recipes she found on Facebook and collected cookbooks. Marie was a shopper and going to Walmart was always a favorite trip. Marie's grandchildren were an important part of her life and she gave them loving nicknames. She showered them with love and words of wisdom. She was a fierce protector of those she loved. Marie will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family members.

Marie is survived by her husband, Duane "Jimmy" Brunelle of Belcourt; children, Tracey Wilkie of Fargo, Jami (Rich Patton) Wilkie of Belcourt, Janel (Kieth) Harviell of St. John, Michael Wilkie of Belcourt, Brenda Wilkie of Belcourt, and Ira (Zoe) Wilkie of San Diego, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and her siblings, Phyllis Wilkie of Albuquerque, NM, Carol Jean Delorme of Belcourt, Richard (Patti) Wilkie of Belcourt, and Rose Wilkie of Belcourt.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Wilkie and Lucy Iverson and siblings, Gilbert Wilkie, Doranna Poitra, Robert "Bobby" Wilkie, and Cecelia Quam.

Casket Bearers are Rich Patton, Kieth Harviell, Riley LaRocque, Hunter Harviell, Ron Trottier, and Raphael Trottier. Honorary Bearers are the 2nd Floor PMC Nursing Staff and the Jollies Fairway Family.

A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John, ND with Father Richard Fineo presiding. Visitation will begin at 8:00 AM with a Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to services in the church. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
