Robert Martell, age 78, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Robert Noel Martell, also known as Hook, was born on December 27, 1943 in Belcourt, ND to George and Mary (Pays) Martell.  He was raised in Belcourt and attended school there as well.  Robert was united in marriage to Barbara Cain on August 26, 1967 in St. John, ND.  Together they raised four children, Robert, Tamera, Jason, and Wesley.  Robert worked in construction for many years, operating heavy equipment, and eventually owning and operating his own business.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandkids. Robert liked to be busy, working outdoors gardening, keeping up the yard and operating his Bobcat.  He spent many hours in his garage working on various projects and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by many.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Martell of Belcourt; sons, Robert (Keri) of St. John, Wesley, and Jason (Layna), both of Belcourt; daughter, Tamera Martell of St. John; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Frank and Gilbert, both of Belcourt; sisters, Theresa Patnaude, Betty (Richard) Marcellais, Carol Belgarde, Stella (Gary) Renault, and Sandra Martell, all of Belcourt; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Martell, sister, Rose Sutton, brothers, Clifford, Patrick, George Jr., Raymond, and William and three brother-in-laws, Roger Sutton, Stan Patnaude, and Raymond "Picky" Belgarde.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the St. John Senior Center, St. John, ND.  Curtis Patnaude and Julie Cain officiating.  Burial at St. John City Cemetery, St. John, ND.
