Rita Shady, age 69, of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 in Grand Forks, ND.

Rita Sharon Shady was born on October 2, 1950 in Belcourt, ND to Carrrice and Nettie (Grant) Vivier. She was raised in the Belcourt area and completed her education there as well. Rita was a wonderful homemaker throughout the years. She was the mother of five children, Jason, Jad, Dawn, LeAnn, and Jamie. Rita enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino, was an avid reader, and was a foster grandparent at a daycare. She loved spending time with her sisters. Rita will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Rita is survived by her children, Jason Breiner, Jad Breiner, Dawl Alkhafaji, LeAnn Hood, and Jamie Hood; grandchildren; great grandchildren; siblings, Leslie (Doris) Vivier of Belcourt, Joan (Byron) Cree of Dunseith, Patty (Paul) Vivier of Carrington, Rose Burcham-LaFountain of Mandan, and Jenelle (Kelly) Karnopp of Grand Forks; and her extended family members.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Carrice Vivier, Nettie and Francis LaFountain, and her siblings, Alan Vivier, Vincent Joe Vivier, Milton Vivier, Richard Vivier, Vincent Dean LaFountain, Frank LaFountain, Mercal Vivier, Aurelia Gunville, Ramona Vivier, and Frances LaFountain.

Casket Bearers are Timothy Boyer, Leslie Vivier Sr., Leslie Vivier Jr., Luke Burcham, Donovan DeCouteau, and Kelly Karnopp. Honorary Bearers are sons, grandsons, and great grandsons. Rosary led by Dawn Alkhafaji. Readers are Melissa DeCouteau and Elizabeth Roberts. Eucharistic Gifts by Barron and Melinda Grant. Music by CJ Parisien.

A visitation will begin at 5 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 10, 2020 at 10:00 AM St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with Fr. Jim Mulligan presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Belcourt, ND. A meal and fellowship will follow at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND following burial services.
