Richard Thomas, age 65, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.
Richard Allen Thomas was born on October 23, 1957 in Belcourt, ND to Joseph and Rita (Azure) Thomas. He was raised in Rolla, ND and completed his education at Belcourt High School in 1976. He furthered his education at Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt and Northland Technical College in Grand Forks, obtaining a Business Administration and Machinist Degrees. Richard was united in marriage to Kimberly Eller on July 5, 1986 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. He was the proud father of seven children, Patrick, Arlene, Jared, AJ, Richard Jr., Kiana, and Trever. Richard was a hard worker his entire life, working various jobs. He was a cooks helper at the Belcourt school, he worked as a roofer, installed cable tv with Schindler's cable tv, was an HVAC tech at Tuomala's plumbing, a bartender for many years at LaDots lounge, and a bartender at the Sky Dancer Casino. Most recently he worked as the Fundraising Director and announcer at KEYA radio. He was a friend to many. He loved his children dearly, and his grandchildren had a special place in his heart. He was a very good singer who loved to sing Karaoke, and sing during KEYA Radio's pledge drives. Richard was a loving, kind hearted man who adored his family. He was an extrovert who thrived on socializing, but also a home body who rarely wanted to leave his beloved community. His quick-witted comebacks and teasing personality was loved by all. His hobbies included making jokes for people to laugh, playing electronic pull tabs at his favorite places, singing karaoke, cheering on his beloved Vikings and Twins and Timberwolves, attending his children's sporting events, and more. His loving and caring nature meant that he'd often care for everyone and anyone, babies and children being his favorite. Most important of all, Richard loved our Lord and savior Jesus. He was a member at St. Ann's Catholic Church. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Richard is survived by his wife, Kimberly Thomas of Belcourt; children, Arlene (Jeremiah) Hamilton-Thomas of Fargo, Jared Thomas of Belcourt, AJ Thomas of Belcourt, Richard Thomas Jr. of Lincoln, Kiana (Salih) Bulbul of Fargo, and Trever Thomas of Fargo; 12 grandchildren, Jeremiah Jr., Aleah, Asher, Teneille, Hallie, Aiyon, Corah, Emberly, Michael, Allyne, Jasmine, and Bryan; siblings, Ron (Sharon) Thomas of Kewanee, IL, Angela "Susie" Porter of Jacksonville, FL, Lorraine Courville of Saint Ignatius, MT, Marma "Punky" (John) Pepion of Belcourt, and Frances "Cookie" (Lester) Zitzow of Stacy, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rita Thomas, son, Patrick Sexton, grandson, Richard Thomas III, siblings, Joseph Thomas Jr., Aaron "Tucky" Thomas, Francis Thomas, Adrian Thomas, Michael "Beef" Thomas, Peter Thomas, Paul Thomas, Vickie Hinds, and Robert Thomas, brother-in-law, Leonard Eller Jr., and father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Viola Eller.
A Funeral Mass will he held on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Please wear your Minnesota Vikings or Minnesota Twins gear to services as we celebrate the life of Richard. Burial will take place in the spring of 2023. A meal will follow funeral services at the KC Hall, Belcourt, ND. Anyone unable to attend services can view the livestreaming at the church at:
