Richard Laverdure, age 83, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

Richard Patrick "Dicky" Laverdure was born on November 20, 1938 in Belcourt, ND to William and Delima (Delonais) Laverdure.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Richard furthered his education at ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND and Haskell Trade School in Lawrence, Kansas where he majored in electrical and mechanics education.  Richard was united in marriage to Sharon Henry on June 15, 1963 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt.  Together they raised three children, Brenda, Rick and Shane.  Richard worked in construction for many years including work on missile sites, dam construction, and many schools.  He also owned and operated Thunderbirds Skatium in Belcourt.  Richard enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and trapping.  He also liked to do mechanic work on cars and watching many different kinds of sports, especially hockey and boxing.  Richard loved spending time with his family members, especially his grandchildren.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon Laverdure of Belcourt; children, Brenda (Darren) Otto of Mandan, Rick (Cindy) Laverdure of Fargo, and Shane (Rachel) Laverdure of Belcourt; eleven grandchildren, Heather Counts, Ashley Nadeau, Erin Whiteley, Tiffany Davis, Ryan Laverdure, Arieanna Laverdure, Alayah Morin, Kharter Laverdure, Kolter Laverdure, Breklyn Laverdure, and Anthony Koistinen; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Zelma Peltier of Dunseith and Bernice (Harvey) Smith of Belcourt; brothers-in-law, Clarence Henry of OH, Duane Henry of Belcourt, Terry Henry of Langdon, Noel Davidson of MT, and LeRoy Henry of WA; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Delima Laverdure, grandson, OJ Davis, siblings, Shirley Morin, Alice Henry, and Billy Laverdure, and brother-in-law, Larry Henry.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service/Eulogy at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Father Michael Slovak presiding.  Burial will take place at a later date.  A meal will follow services at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.
