Richard Huovinen, age 87, of Rolla, ND passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Presentation Medical Center, Rolla, ND.

Richard Marvin "Dick" Huovinen was born on February 20, 1934 in Rolla, ND to John Richard and Elma (Parvey) Huovinen.  He was raised on the family farm in Rock Lake, ND and completed his education in Rolla.  Richard was united in marriage to Jennie Cain on February 20, 1954 on the family farm.  Together they raised six children, John, Charles, Curtis, Robert "Jeff," Tina, and Tami.  Richard farmed in Rock Lake and also worked as a bartender as various places throughout the area including Hansboro, Rock Lake, and Rolla.  He enjoyed his time socializing, reading the newspapers, watching TV shows, especially westerns, and reading books, mostly focusing on past history.  Richard loved his family dearly and his community and friends as well.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his children, Charles Huovinen of Rock Lake, Robert "Jeff" Huovinen of Rolla, Tina (David) Walock of Lakeville, MN, and Tami Huovinen of Rolla; three grandchildren, Meghan (Bryan) Huovinen-Zuefelt, AJ Walock, and Andrew Walock; great grandson, Sylas Huovinen-Zuefelt; and brother, Bill (Walt) Tukkanen of Japan.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John Richard and Elma Huovinen, wife, Jennie Huovinen, and sons, John and Curtis Huovinen.

Casket Bearers are Dale Juntunen, Bryant Meuller, Ron Bykonen, Ed Mickelson, AJ Walock, and Gordon Berg.  Honorary Bearers are nieces, Maureen Mastenbrook and Patti Davis.  Music by Doris Kaleva.

A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be Friday, June 25, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND.  Pastor Scott Ramey officiating.  Burial will follow funeral services at Mount View Cemetery, Perth, ND.  A meal will follow burial services back at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rolla, ND.
