Obituary

Raymond Delorme, age 87, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Raymond Peter Delorme was born on July 3, 1935 in Belcourt, ND to Louis and Jane (Zaste) Delorme.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Raymond was united in marriage to Shirley Charette on February 23, 1960 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt.  Together they raised five children, Ramsey, Kandace, Connie, Rae Lynn, and Ray Jr.  Raymond worked as a laborer for many years in construction and caring for his home, family and horses.  He loved everything about horses and he enjoyed his time breaking horses and going for rides in the buggy with is family.  Raymond liked the outdoors, especially yardwork and gardening.  He was well versed in politics, always ready and up to date to spread his knowledge.  He also had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved dearly not only by his family but many friends as well.  Raymond will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Delorme of Belcourt; children, Ramsey (Jackie) Delorme of Dunseith, Kandace (Jerry) Parisien of Belcourt, Connie (Luke) Baker of Belcourt, Rae Lynn (Wayne) Parisien of Belcourt, and Ray Jr. (Marla Belgarde) Delorme of Belcourt; eight grandchildren, Derek, Jason, Toby, Jeri Ann, Luke Jr., Jona, Lonnee, and Cheyenne; fourteen great grandchildren, Arena Rae, Jason Jr., Akealyes, Bella, Jett, Isabella, Zoë, McCoy, Everly, Kodi Quinn, Jordi Brei, Easton, and Chase; siblings, Sylvester (Marion) Delorme of Belcourt, Glen (Loretta) Delorme of St. Michael, Phillip (Phyllis) Delorme of Belcourt, Leo (Viola) Delorme of St. Michael, Dallas (Renita) Delorme of St. Michael, Maxine Twamley of Hoople, and Ronnie Delorme of Rolla; and many nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Jane Delorme and siblings, Jake Delorme, Donald Delorme, Steven Delorme, and Betty Lou Delorme.

Casket Bearers Lee Jeanotte, Lee Davis, Carl Johnson, Reed Soderstrom, Alan Brunelle, and Mike DeMers.  Honorary Bearers are all grandsons: Derek, Jason, Toby Delorme, Luke Baker Jr., great grandsons: Easton Peltier, Chase Peltier, JD Delorme, Jeff Azure, and McCoy Baker, son-in-laws: Jerry Parisien, Luke Baker Sr. and Wayne Parisien, Elliot and Shelly Ward, Fatti and Mary Lou Davis, Loren and Dorothy Henry, Jeremy Laducer, Johnathan Koistinen, Evan Peltier, and Dave Azure.  Music by Craig Lunday, Jerry Parisien, Dave Azure, Akealyes Azure, and Bella Azure.  Readers are Jeri Ann Azure and Jackie Delorme.  Eucharistic gifts by Marion Delorme and Kim Delorme.  Funeral Pall placed by Shirley and all children.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service/Eulogy at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.  Father Tony Hession, SOLT presiding.  A meal will be held at Fiddler's Hall immediately following burial.
