Obituary

Peggy Bercier, age 72, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at her home in Belcourt, ND.

Peggy Joyce Bercier was born on September 18, 1952 in Belcourt, ND to Paul P. Bercier Sr. and Mabel (Wilkie) Bercier.  She was raised in St. John and completed her education at Belcourt Schools. Peggy furthered her education at the University of Mary, obtaining a Bachelors' degree and at Minot State University, obtaining a Master's degree.  Peggy was the proud mother of, Joyce and Gail, and later became mother to Bruce Jr, Patrick Sr, Jennifer, and Lisa.  Peggy loved her children dearly, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friend, John Gefroh, her little buddy, Janice Delorme-Delong, siblings and many friends.

Peggy worked many jobs throughout her lifetime including The BIA Agency, Turtle Mountain Manufacturing Company, Tribal Court, Uniband, U.S Census Bureau, she was also a Caregiver for Lutheran Social Services to name a few.  She enjoyed going to the casino, playing the buffalos, playing bingo, visiting, and cooking.  Peggy enjoyed being outdoors, loved and adored her lilac trees, her puppy/baby Todo, she also loved to country cruising while drinking her apple juice with John, riding around hunting with Alex and listening to country music, especially George Jones. She loved to play pool and dance. She loved her (girls) Golden Girls and (her crazy men) Two and a Half Men.  Peggy adored time spent with her family and friends.  She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.

Peggy is survived by her children, Gail Bercier, Joyce Delorme, both of St. John, Bruce Bercier Jr. of Belcourt, Patrick Bercier Sr. of Belcourt, and Jennifer Kofmehl of Washington; ten grandchildren, Charity DeCoteau, April (Alex LaRocque) Delorme, Barry (Erin Keplin) DeCoteau Jr., Chad (Lilly Azure) Crissler Jr., Shaleigha Bercier, Jayden Bercier, Jaylen Bercier, and Grandma's Muckatoon's, Paizley, Haizyn, and Connor; six great grandchildren, Koiyer Ty, Kamara Skye, Keanu Zolten, Bentlee, Mattie, and Rhone; Siblings, George Bercier of St. John and Jerry (Cheryl) Bercier of Belcourt; Friend, John Gefroh of Rolla; Brother-in-law, Eugene "Chii Boy" Poitra; Sister-in-law, Donna Helms; and all nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Sr. and Mabel Bercier, daughter, Lisa Montriel, brothers, Paul Bercier Jr., Donald Bercier, Bruce Bercier Sr., and Clinton Bercier, sisters, Jane Beck, Rosella Malaterre, Mary Lou Cain, and Shirley Ann Poitra, brother-in-law's, Andrew Malaterre and John Beck, sister-in-law, Sharon Bercier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow services at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
