Patricia "Patty" Rondeau-Gourneau, age 67, of St. John, ND passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at IHS Hospital in Belcourt, North Dakota after a three-year battle with cancer.

Patricia "Patty" Rondeau-Gourneau was born on December 6, 1955 in Wolf Point, Montana to Andrew and Alta (Grumbo) Rondeau.  She was the second of eight children.  She attended St. Ann's Mission School, and later graduated as the Valedictorian from Turtle Mountain Community High School in 1975.  She then obtained her degree from Bottineau Business College.

Patty was a very hard worker, and served the Turtle Mountains in many capacities, including but not limited to, Tribal Court, BIA Police Department, Turtle Mountain Housing Authority Director, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Personnel Department Director, Turtle Mountain Heritage Center, and a consultant for many other reservations on Tribal Housing matters.

William Paul Langan, her only child, was born on September 5, 1976.  Patty was united in marriage to Delmar Langan on June 16, 1978.  They later divorced, and Patty was then united in marriage to Raymond "Hoss" Gourneau in 1985.  From this marriage, Patty gained two daughters—Alison and Erica.

Patty loved the outdoors.  Camping was one of her favorite things to do, and her knowledge of nature was vast.  Her sister Mary once said, "Those crickets are loud."  Patty said, "Those aren't crickets—those are frogs!", and then had a good laugh.  She was also an amazing gardener, and loved to read murder mysteries and watch Forensic Files .  Patty was amazing at crocheting—everyone in the family has a blanket or other gift she crocheted, and she even crocheted her great nieces' baptism blankets.  Patty was definitely a "Jack of all Trades".  She had a solution for most problems—from cars, to houses, to how to train dogs.

Patty loved spending time with her son, siblings, grandchildren, all nieces and nephews, and her dog Rachel.  Her sense of humor is so memorable, and it kept her family laughing right up to her passing.  Patty knew how to make everyone feel better, and was never concerned about herself.

Patty is survived by her son Wil (Michelle) Langan of Belcourt, step-children Alison (Curt) Keplin of Belcourt, and Erica Gourneau-Amador of Belcourt; grandchildren Bridget and Xavier Langan and Abbey Thomas; siblings Jeff "Axe" (Michelle) Rondeau of Belcourt, Mary (Jim) Mitchell of Belcourt, Thomas "Tommy" (Christi) Rondeau of St. John, and Annie (Pat) St. Germaine of Belcourt.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Christopher Rondeau of Minnesota, Sam Rondeau of Minnesota, Daniel (Tasha) Rondeau of Salt Lake City, Utah, Pat Rondeau of Texas, Anna (Susan) Johnson of Fargo, Matt (Danielle) Johnson of Fargo, Brandon (Allie) St. Germaine of West Fargo, Sydney (Evan) Counts of St. John, Christin (Derek) Demers of St. John, Jacob (Riley) Rondeau of Grand Forks, Christopher Leo Rondeau of Nashville, Tennessee, Mackenzie Rondeau of Dunseith; and special companion her loyal dog Rachel.

Patty is preceded in death by her parents Andy and Alta Rondeau, her brothers Mark, Duke and Pacer Rondeau, and nephews Joe Rondeau and Edward Johnson III; and niece Sally Rondeau.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Elick Funeral Home in Rolla ND, with visitation from 5:00-6:30pm and prayer services from 6:30-7:00 pm.  Burial will take place in the spring at St. Ann's Cemetery.
