Obituary

Norene Kakela, age 91, of Cando, ND formerly of Rolla, ND passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Towner County Living Center, Cando, ND.

Norene May Kakela was born on July 4, 1930 in Rolla, ND to Everett and Bertha (Conn) Lawler.  She was united in marriage to Harvey Kakela on October 14, 1949 in Rolla.  Together they raised three children, Carey, Jan, and Kevin.  Norene was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending time with her family.  Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her greatest joy.  She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She loved following her children and grandchildren through various activities and sporting events and especially enjoyed watching her family excel at curling.  Norene also liked to play cards with her family and friends.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Norene is survived by her children, Carey (Janie) Kakela of Lake Upsilon, Jan (Armand) Lagasse of Mandan, and Kevin (Marie) Kakela of Hansboro; five grandchildren, Ross (Nicole) Lagasse, Ryan (Jillian) Lagasse, Kayla (Adam) Held, Megan (Colt) Muscatell, and Kyle (Lauren) Kakela; nine great grandchildren, Madeline Muscatell, McKenna Muscatell, Collyns Muscatell, Regan Lagasse, Lauren Lagasse, Indie Lagasse, Jayber Lagasse, Tate Held, and Harvey Lynn Kakela; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Ade Disher, Joan Lawler, and Charlotte Kakela.

Norene was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Bertha Lawler, husband, Harvey Kakela, and siblings, Estol, Ruth, Helen, Dorene, and Warren.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Rolla City Cemetery, Rolla, ND.
