Nicky Champagne, age 52, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at his home.

Nicky Lee Champagne was born on December 20, 1970 in Belcourt, ND to Richard and Debbie (Vallie) Champagne.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education at Belcourt High School, graduating in 1989.  He furthered his education at Turtle Mountain College obtaining a certificate in heavy equipment operation.  Nicky was the proud father of seven children, Nikki, Lacey, Richard, Cole, Terrance, McKayla, and Wesley.  Nicky worked as a carpenter throughout the years, which he enjoyed.  Nicky liked being outdoors, caring for his chickens and his pigs, fishing, and gardening.  He loved time spent with his family members, especially his brother, nephews, and his sons, grandsons, doing activities outside.  He also liked playing candy crush on his phone and computer.  Nicky will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.  Nicky was always there to help relatives and friends with whatever needed to be done.

Nicky loved his family dearly. His grandchildren were the light of his life and his relationship with family was cherished. He was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague and friend. He touched the lives of so many people. He will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.

Nicky is survived by his children, Nikki (Jacob) Champagne of Belcourt, Lacey (Johnathan) Desjarlais of Belcourt, Richard Champagne of Belcourt, Cole (Juliette) Champagne of Bismarck, Terrance Champagne of Belcourt, McKayla (Chase) Champagne of Bismarck, and Wesley Poitra of Belcourt; eight grandchildren, Harmony, JaKoby, Ja'siah, Brysen, Malik, Cole Jr., Jonah, and Xylan; sister, Vicky (Kevin) Parisien of Belcourt; brother, Picky (DeAnna) Champagne of Belcourt; Godchildren, Mason Champagne and Andrew Keplin; niece Rickayla ,Devan (Alexis) , Mason ,Trey, and Greyson Champagne all of Belcourt. Nicky was a loving father, grandpa, brother, and friend to everyone.

Nicky was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Debbie Champagne, grandsons, Jacob Longie and Ryden Desjarlais, twin brother, Ricky Champagne, and sister, Theresa Champagne.

Casket Bearers are Mason Champagne, Trey Champagne, Devan Champagne, John Grant, George Champagne, Kevin Parisien, Keith Jensen, and Ryan Parisien.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends. Music by Craig Lunday and Alvin Poitra.  Readers are Becky Poitra and Ann Vallie.

A visitation will begin at 5:30 PM on Monday, January 2, 2023 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.  Burial will be in St. Benedict's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
