Michelle Thompson, age 61, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her home.

Michelle "Muskie" Rae Thompson was born in Rapid City, SD, to Louis Edward Thompson Jr. And Christine Alice (Azure) Thompson on the brisk morning of January 14, 1962. She attended school in Rapid City, SD.

She gave birth to four children, Damion, Nathan, Lonnie, LaNae. She returned to the Turtle Mountain Reservation, Belcourt, ND with her children and continued her education at the Turtle Mountain Community College, where she obtained an Associates of Science Degree.

Michelle was an incredibly creative and talented person. She loved to hit the bundles where she would use old materials to create the most outstanding Halloween costumes. Her talent will never be forgotten; many trick or treater and even non-trick or treaters would stop by each Halloween just to take pictures of her creations. Michelle became a grandma to all children near and far, creating memories for each and every child she came in contact with. She was also a favored auntie.

Michelle loved music, the 70's was her favorite decade and she could sure cut a rug when the music played. Michelle loved animals, her Mr. Charlie Brown was her pride and joy. She loved to grow any plant she could get her hands on, as she had a green thumb. She could grow anything; even a weed became a beautiful thing under her care. Michelle loved to laugh; she enjoyed life to the fullest. Camping outdoors was her thing; camping on the river with family were some of her fondest memories.

Michelle is survived by her mother, Christine Thompson of Belcourt; children Damion Thompson, Nathan Thompson, LaNae (Tash Gladue) Thompson all of Belcourt, and Lonnie Thompson of Fargo; grandchildren, Jzainea Livingood, Jozlynn Thompson, Darian Gladue, Weston Gladue, Baylin Thompson, and Zena Thompson; great granddaughter, Zha'Vaya Livingood; siblings, Aryln (Barb DeCoteau) Thompson of Belcourt, Tyler Thompson of Minot, Delbert (Cindy) Thompson of Rapid City, SD, Theresa Milk of Lawrence, KS, and DeAnn (Fred) Jansen of Mission, SD; adopted sister, Kristie White Eyes of Manderson, SD; good family friend, Lyle LaRoque, as well as many nieces and nephews many other living family members; and Mr. Charlie Brown.

Michelle was preceded in death by her father, Louis Edward Thompson Jr., her adopted daughter, Nichole Livingood, her grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.

A visitation will Rosary Service will begin at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND. Burial will take place at a later date.
