Michael Roy Sr., age 85, a lifelong resident of Rolette County, ND passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND, surrounded by his loved ones.

Michael Gene "Chub" Roy was born on October 30, 1935, the son of Harry Roy and Anna Roy Lambert.  He was raised on a farm south of Rolla, ND, where he farmed the majority of his adult life with his brother.  Mike was the youngest of four siblings, which included his three sisters, Lillian, Iris, and Minerva, and his brother, Ted.

Mike, known to many as "Chub", was briefly married to Lillian Wilkie in his younger years, with whom he had two children, Marjorie and Michael Jr.  He would later adopt Wyle LaRocque.  They would later separate, and Chub found happiness in the 31 years he spent with his companion, Rita Carrington; until her death in November of 2019.

While Chub was a man of few words, he enjoyed the simple things in life.  Whether it was sitting in silence watching television with a dog on his lap drinking coffee or time spent with family and friends.  He had a great love for animals and it wasn't uncommon to see a pup tagging along by his side.  Chub's greatest passion was farming and family.  He had many hobbies including tinkering with old equipment, reading newspapers, attending family functions, and auctions.  It wasn't uncommon for him to bring home rusty old trucks that had seen their better days with full intensions of bringing them back to life.  Although he had a great passion for antiques and fighting under the hood of rusty vehicles for hours on end, he also loved car shopping and frequently presented himself with a brand new car that he used to travel around in to visit many of his loved ones and friends.

Chub is survived by his children, Marjorie (Kevin) Poitra, Michael Roy Jr., and Wyle Roy; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sisters, Lillian Belgarde and Minerva St. Claire.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna, his companion for life, Rita Carrington, sister, Iris Corder, and brother, Ted Roy.

A visitation will be from 11:00 AM to the 1:00 PM Funeral Service at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND on Monday, May 3, 2021.  Burial will take place at a later date.
