Metha (Parisien) Bercier, age 98, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her daughter's home in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Metha Mary (Parisien) Bercier was born on August 6, 1922 in Belcourt, ND to John Syriel and Mary Rose (McGillis) Parisien. She was part of a large loving family, having 17 siblings. She was raised in Belcourt and attended boarding school away from her family before returning home. Metha was united in marriage to John Joseph Bercier on September 18, 1941 in Belcourt. Together they raised ten children, Delilah, Lyman, Cory, Monica, Ivan, Connie, Jovita, Dawn, John, and Alan. She also raised Charlie (Jamie) Bercier, as one of her children. Metha was a historian and cultural teacher for many years, furthering her education at Turtle Mountain Community College. Recently, Metha became a published author. She was wonderful homemaker as well, raising her children and caring for her family. To her children, their Mother was the most loving Mom any child could ask for. "Thank you, Mom, for everything you did for us. From the bottom of our hearts, we love you and will miss you dearly. You will never be forgotten." Her children were her heartbeats. Metha had a profound faith in her Catholic religion, instilling in her family the importance of belief in religion and faith in our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Metha is survived by her children, Delilah (Joe) Gourneau of Aberdeen, Lyman (Bonnie) Bericer of Rolla, Cory (Sue) Bercier of Bottineau, Ivan (Carmen) Bercier of Argusville, Connie (Jeff) Reuer of Aberdeen, Jovita Keegan of Bismarck, Dawn (Chuck) Muth of Aberdeen, John (Marilyn) Bercier of Aberdeen, and Alan Bercier of Belcourt; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy (Eugene) Baumgartner, James (Rose Marie) Parisien Sr., Leonard (Mabel) Parisien, Vincent (Beverly) Parisien, C. Joe (Carleen) Parisien, and Ray (Shareen) Parisien Sr., all of Belcourt; and many nieces and nephews.
Metha was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Bercier, daughter, Monica Wickre, grandsons, Todd Bercier and Austin Bercier, her parents, John and Mary Rose Parisien, sisters, Helen Peltier, Lucy Short, Laura Peltier, Irene DeCoteau, Viola Marcellais, and Alice DeCoteau, and brothers, Tommy Parisien, Stanley Parisien, Charlie Parisien, George Parisien, and John Parisien.
Pall Bearers are her loving immediate family, with all other family members as honorary Pall Bearers. Readers are Michelle Huff and Tonya Hertel, with eulogy given by Jovita Keegan. Music will be provided by the St. Ann's Church volunteers.
A Visitation will be from 8:00 AM to 10:30 am on Friday, November 27, 2020 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 10:30 am, led by her Godson, Gary and wife Sandy Thomas. The Catholic Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am. Burial will follow services at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. Father Tony Hession will be presiding.
Due to limited space, immediate family, sisters and brothers will be seated first, but all family and friends are welcome to pay their respects. All individuals attended must wear a mask and are respectfully requested to practice social distancing.
