Mary Malaterre, age 100, of Rolla, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Mary Veronica Malaterre was born on May 3, 1923 in Belcourt, ND to Raphael and Bibian (Houle) Jeanotte.  She was raised in Belcourt and completed her education there as well. Mary was united in marriage to Roy Z. Malaterre on November 14, 1942 in Belcourt.  Together they raised ten children, Kay, Betty, Linda, Maynard, Marvin, Susan, Allan, Connie, Paula, and Mary Jo. Mary worked at the William Langer Jewel Plant in Rolla, as a nurse aide at the Rolla Hospital, and then as a physical therapy assistant at the Rolla Hospital until retiring.  She enjoyed being in the kitchen, canning, cooking, and baking, passing her bread making skills to all of her children.  Mary liked cross stitching, as well as playing cards, checkers, bingo, and visiting with her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed listening to KEYA radio and visiting on the phone with family and friends.  Mary was a very devoted Catholic and always had her Rosary by her side. Mary loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as she was so proud of them all.  She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.

Mary is survived by her children, Kay Malaterre of Belcourt, Betty (Cecil) Jeanotte of Belcourt, Maynard Malaterre of Rolla, Marvin (Alberta) Malaterre of Belcourt, Susan Keplin of Bismarck, Allan (Shirley) Malaterre of Belcourt, Paula (Mike Vivier) Malaterre of Belcourt, and Mary Jo (Johnny) Vincent of Rolla; 34 grandchildren; 106 great grandchildren with one on the way; 48 great great grandchildren with three on the way; Godchildren, Sandy Patterson, Betty Osman, Lloyd "Shorty" Jeanotte, and Carla Jeanotte Sigette; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Raphael and Bibian Jeanotte, husband, Roy Z. Malaterre, two infant children, daughters, Linda Williams and Connie Enno, brothers, Francis, Arthur, and James Jeanotte, and sister, Angeline Malaterre.

Casket Bearers are Mike Malaterre, Ronnie Thomas, Patrick Enno, Martin Trottier, Tyler LaRocque, Michael Vondal, Laramie Keplin, Braylen DeCoteau, Jade Malaterre, and Jonathan Henry. Music by Richard Turcotte, Joe Parisien, Terry Baker, Johnny Vincent, Travis Vondal, and Craig Lunday. Eucharistic Gifts by Allan and Shirley Malaterre and Myles Giron.  Readers are Alissa Azure and Aaron Keoke.

A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND in the spring.  A meal will follow the funeral mass at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND, all are welcome to attend.
