Obituary

Marlin Morin, age 76, of Dunseith, ND passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Ave Maria Care Facility, Jamestown, North Dakota.

Marlin "Dubbie" Frederick Morin was born on September 29, 1946 in Rolla, ND to Fred and Victoria (Morin) Morin. He was raised in Minot, ND and completed his education in Stephan, SD. Marlin furthered his education in Bismarck, ND and received a certificate in welding. In 1966 he joined the United States Army where he proudly served his county receiving an honorable discharge in 1968. He was united in marriage to Linda (Poitra) Morin on August 14, 1971 at St. Ben's Catholic Church near Belcourt, ND. Together they had two children, Nichole and Benjamin. Marlin worked as an iron worker for 20 years. His work brought him all over the United States near the missile sites and larger building sites, but primarily worked in North Dakota. He was a member of Iron Workers Local #793 of Minot, ND. Marlin enjoyed the outdoors, fishing in the summer, ice fishing in the winter, and took much pride in his yard. He also liked watching old westerns, his pets, and especially his grandchildren. Marlin had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as a jokester to many. He loved to see people smile. Marlin will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Marlin is survived by his wife Linda Morin of Dunseith; children, Nichole (Danny Belgarde) Morin of Belcourt and Benjamin (Jill) Morin of Jamestown; grandchildren, Sara Banse, Wyatt Morin, Olyvia Morin, Kutter Belgarde, and Kandessa Belgarde; siblings, Jeanita (Dave) Brunkow of Sioux Falls, SD, Mable Wilkie of Beulah, and David "Sandy" Morin of Dunseith; and nieces and nephews.

Marlin is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Victoria Morin, sister, Amy Morin, and brother-in-law, Gilbert Wilkie.

Casket Bearers Kutter Belgarde, Wyatt Morin, Darren Davis, James Hunt, Todd Poitra, Robert McLeod, David Kramer, and Danny Belgarde. Honorary Casket Bearers Craig Poitra, Carl Eller, Clark Gourneau, Marlys Smith, Sandy Morin, RJ Brunkow and all family and friends. Rosary led by Alvin and Ella McLeod. Readers are Carol Allery and Jackie Delorme. Gift Bearers are Olyvia Morin, Sara Banse, and Kandessa Belgarde. Music by Craig Lunday, Blake Azure, and Jerry Parisien. Military Honors by the Lilley-Dionne American Legion Post #262 of Belcourt and the ND Military Funeral Honor Guard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will take place in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND following funeral services in the church.
