Marlin Marcellais, age 63, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.
Marlin M. Marcellais was born on January 6, 1961 in Belcourt, ND to Patrick and Ruth (Brien) Marcellais. He was raised in Belcourt, attended Wahpeton Boarding School and completed his education in Chamberlain, SD. Marlin enlisted in the United States Arom in 1978 and received an honorable discharge in 1981. He as very proud of his military service in the 82nd Airborne and was a member of the Lilley-Dionne American Legion Post #262 of Belcourt. He was united in marriage to Betty Lenoir on October 18, 2008 in Belcourt and together they had four children, Joseph, Anthony, Raquel and Rochelle. Marlin worked as an independent contractor in construction for many years. He enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings, drawing, and playing cards. He liked the outdoors playing softball and horse shoes, and music, often playing spoons. Marlin loved time spent with family members and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Marlin is survived by his children, Joseph Marcellais of Williston, Anthony Marcellais of Phoenix, AZ, Raquel (Jerico) Snell of Stanley, and Rochelle (Michael Houle) Marcellais of New Town; ten grandchildren; siblings, Melissa (Kaven) Vallie of Belcourt, Mark Marcellais of Belcourt, Madonna Marcellais of Belcourt, Ronnie Marcellais of Parshall, and Patti Marcellais of Belcourt; and many nieces and nephews.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Ruth Marcellais, wife, Betty Marcellais, brother, Brian Marcellais, sister, Monica, and great nephew, Thayne Marcellais.
Casket Bearers are Kavin Vallie, Danny Belgarde, Brian Gourneau, William Marcellais, Jordan Marcellais, PJ Marcellais, Mark Marcellais, Ronnie Marcellais, Keith Brien, and Richard LaFloe. Honorary Bearers are Kaven Vallie, Sheila Belgarde, Robert Brien, Wade Brien, and all family and friends. Reader is Patty Allery. Military Honors by the Lilley-Dionna American Legion Post #262 of Belcourt and the Grand Forks Army Military Funeral Honor Guard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will take place at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND at a later date. Father Michael Slovak presiding.
