MARJORIE SHARLEEN (HUDSON) JOHNSON, 93, Rolla, passed away at Towner County Living Center, Cando, ND on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
Marjorie was born in Flandreau, SD on July 31, 1929 to Lloyd Ross and Brita Mae (Earl) Hudson. Marjorie married Ernest (Ernie) Warren Johnson on November 2, 1946 at his parent's home place and they farmed the family homestead. In 1956, they began a Grade A dairy operation along with the grain farming. Due to Ernie's injury in 1966, they sold the cows and continued with the grain farming operation. Marjorie worked as school cook and chaperoned many band trips while their children were in school activities. Marjorie went along when Ernie drove commercial buses for tours to several states and Canadian provinces. Marjorie babysat the neighborhood children, did errands for shut-ins and drove others to out of town appointments.
Marjorie was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active on church boards and committees. She held offices in the local branch of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) and Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL), attended several district LCMS conventions and was involved with scouting, band parents, Armourdale Homemakers Club, Rolla Arts Council and other clubs. Besides family, Marjorie's special interests and hobbies were crocheting dollies, afghans and other items, visiting, card playing, jigsaw puzzles, search-a-words, gardening and mowing the farmyard.
Survivors include her 3 daughter, Marie Diane (DeDee) Hallada, Fargo, ND; Mae (Glenn) Murphy, West Fargo, ND; Marcia (Darrell ) Karnopp, Rupert, ID, and 1 son, Micheal, Rolla, ND; grandchildren, Tina Hallada (Brent Slotto); Christopher and Nara Murphy; Jason and Cassie Murphy; Jordan Karnopp and family and Eric Karnopp and family; Scott Johnson, Jessica Johnson and Josh Rohr and Kelli Johnson (Nick Surma); great-grandchildren, Zoey Hallada, Gage Hallada; Michael Karnopp, Lucas and Corbin Surma; Stella and Lincoln Murphy; and many nieces & nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 sisters: Margaret Hayes, Elizabeth (Betty) Sander and Mary Madonna Hudson; 2 brothers: Lloyd S. Hudson and infant brother Phillip Hudson; granddaughter, Trisha Hallada.
Funeral Services will be held in the summer of 2023. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery, Rock Lake, ND.
