Marion Lorraine Laverdure, age 60, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Marion Lorraine Laverdure, Zhaangweshikwe "Mink Woman," was born on October 17, 1963 in Belcourt, ND to Earl Sr. and Lillian "Lilly" (Delorme) Houle on a beautiful fall day. Lillian spent her childhood helping her parents with their chores.  She loved to share stories about working with the animals and throwing hay bales. The stories she had to share about her childhood with her brothers and sisters were endless.

During Lorraine's adolescent years she attended the Turtle Mountain Community High School where she graduated in 1981.  This is where she met her high school sweetheart, lifelong partner, Marcus Napoleon Laverdure Sr.

Lorraine and Napoleon's love story began when they were sixteen years old.  Together they have three children, Michelle, Nichole, and Marcus Jr. and their niece-daughter, Terri Marie.  Lorraine and Napoleon have ten grandchildren, Lilly, Ben, Gave, Izzy, Colton, Ari, William, Marcus III, Parris, and Graham.  Through the years, Lorraine and Napoleon enjoyed bringing their families on camping trips, where they would make memories fishing and sitting by the fire.  Lorraine enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone.  She had frybread that was better than the grandma on the movie "Smoke Signals."  Anytime you visited Lorraine and Napoleon's home, they would always greet you and Lorraine always make sure you had something to eat and drink.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Napoleon; children, Michelle Laverdure, Nichole Laverdure, and Marcus (Donna) Laverdure, and niece-daughter, Terri Peltier; ten grandchildren, Lilly, Ben, Gabe, Izzy, Colton, Ari, William, Marcus III, Parris, and Graham; mother, Lillian Houle; brothers and sisters, Linda Smith, Barbara Houle, Liz (Beau) Gourneau, Doris (Keith) Ayala, Libia (Stan) Peltier, Earl (Velma) Houle Jr., and William Houle; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and close friends who she considered family.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, Earl Houle Sr. and brother, Dave Houle Sr.

Casket Bearers are Marcus Laverdure Jr., Earl Houle Jr., Beau Gourneau Jr., William Houle, Michael Laverdure, and Cedric DeCoteau.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends. Spiritwind Drum Group.

A visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.  A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND. Burial will take place at the Laverdure Family Home, Belcourt, ND.
