Obituary

Maida Desjarlais-Vivier, age 65, of Dunseith, ND passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND.


Maida Cecelia Desjarlais-Vivier was born on October 5, 1954 in Cavalier, ND to Joseph and Agnes (Skinner) Desjarlais. She was raised in Dunseith and completed her education there as well. She furthered her education at Turtle Mountain Community College in nursing. Maida was united in marriage to Larry J. LaFountain and together they had three sons, Sean, Josh, and Aaron. They later divorced. She later married Gary Vivier, he preceded her in death. Maida worked as an administrative assistant for LIHEAP for the Turtle Mountain Tribe. She loved time spent visiting with her family and friends. Maida enjoyed playing cards, going shopping, and playing bingo. She also liked listening to the golden oldies music. Maida will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family members and many friends.


Maida is survived by her sons, Sean (Lori) LaFountain, Josh (Kelly Schroeder) LaFountain, and Aaron LaFountain, all of Belcourt; nine grandchildren, Trent, Connor, Nate, Josh Jr., Nolan, Camden, Camille, Carter, and Zayne; and a sister, Bernadette (Gordon) Baker of Belcourt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Desjarlais and her husband, Gary Vivier.


Casket Bearers are Sean LaFountain, Josh LaFountain, Aaron LaFountain, Gordon Baker Jr., Trent LaFountain, Connor LaFountain, and Nate LaFountain. Music by Jeff Laducer and Richard "Socks" Davis. Eucharistic Gifts by Bernadette Baker and Lori LaFountain. Readers are Shaylee Baker, Louis Frederick Jr., and Brittany Bercier.


A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the church with Fr. Jim Mulligan presiding. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
