Luella Azure, age 91, of Rolla, ND passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Luella M. Azure was born on June 21, 1933 in St. John, ND to Albert Sr. and Helen (Berginski) Leonard.  She was raised in St. John and completed her schooling at Dionne Lake School and Rolla. Luella was united in marriage to her Knight in Shining Armour, Morris Azure on February 26, 1981 and together they helped raise four children, Juliette, Shawn, Guy, and Cheri.  She worked at the William Langer Jewel Plant from 1956 to 1985 as an inspection supervisor in quality control, retiring after 29 years, as well as a short time for the Easter Seals Society (86-88), Rolla Hospital (85-86), and Rolla Super Market (75-76).  She and Morris also had a hobby farm west of Rolla Golf Course which brought them much happiness. She often went for walks in the woods with her dogs, cared for many cats, chickens, and sheep, and enjoyed selling their garden vegetables and eggs from their chickens. Luella loved the outdoors and went golfing often with her sisters, as well as many trips with them, and camping with her nieces and nephews when they were young, and cross-country skiing in the winters.  She loved painting, gardening, caring for her flowers, and traveling around North Dakota, photographing small towns along the way and only missing 8 in the entire state.  Morris and Luella liked traveling, making their way to Texas every winter together. Luella loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them as well.  She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Luella is survived by her husband, Morris Azure of Rolla; children, Juliette (Travis Thompson) Pfeifer of Rolette, Shawn (Holly) Azure of Grant, MI, Guy (Lisa) Azure of Manvel, and Cheri Deplazes of Fargo; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry "Bud" (Sue) Leonard of St. John and Bob (Kay) Leonard of St. John; sister, Helen "Dolly" Belgarde of Rolla; sister-in-law, Margaret Leonard of Jamestown; and nieces and nephews.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Sr. and Helen Leonard, two brothers, Lyle Leonard and Albert Leonard Jr, and grandson, Derek Thompson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Rolla Methodist Church, Rolla, ND.  Pastor Timothy McDowell officiating.  Burial will be in Mill Lake Cemetery, St. John, ND.
