Lucille Beaver, age 85, Rolette, ND passed away September 18, 2020 at her daughter's home in Garrison surrounded by her loved ones.  Lucille had resided there since her stroke in March.

Lucille Kjorvestad Beaver was born to Theodore and Lora (Rice) in Rolette on August 1, 1935.  She passed away September 18, 2020 at the age of 85.  Lucille attended and lived in country schools where her mother taught.  She graduated via an independent study through the state of ND in 1953.  She went on to attend Bottineau Forstry.  Lucille was united in marriage to Harlan Beaver on July 14, 1954 in Ray where Harlan was employed in the oil fields.  While they were living in the oil fields two daughters were born, Carrie and Cheryl.  Upon moving back to Rolette to the farm in 1959, two more daughters were born, Tonee and Marla.  Mom farmed along side of dad being a very active partner in the operation.

Lucille enjoyed driving around and seeing different crops and activities that went on in rural Rolette County.  She and dad enjoyed eating out and visiting with the locals in Rolette.  Harlan had the misfortune of a farm accident in which changed their lives as it was.  Then then purchased a motor home and traveled two winters in the south where their grandson Gerry and family were stationed in the military.  They also enjoyed many campsites in North Dakota those few years.  Then in January of 2008, Harlan's health declined and they came for home.  Harlan passed away January 26.  After that Lucille found a new independence and became very social.  She formed a lot of friendships, especially at Linda's Café in Rolette.  Many of those friends looked out for Lucille and always lend a hand for anything that she needed.  She continued to have the motor home at West Inkster (south of Garrison) in which she enjoyed many summer visits and campfires.  A very special 80 ^th birthday was held there.  She continued to live at their farm making many daily trips to town along with going to see her other daughters' homes.  She was fortunate enough to able to attend a lot of events of grand and great grandchildren.  Even though Lucille started out mid life with some very serious health issues and continued to have many challenges along the way, she never let that stop her.  She lived life to the fullest.  She really enjoyed every November and December going to Garrison for the Dickens Village Festival.  She enjoyed many games of cards with her family.  One of her very proud independent moments was when she finally purchased her dream RED car!

March 14, 2020 Lucille suffered a stroke.  She spent three weeks in Rugby hospital rehab and then she moved to live with her daughter Tonee and family in Garrison.  There she did speech therapy over telemedicine for many hours and FaceTime with kids, grandkids, great grands and her Fur grand dogs and cats as well!  There she watched patiently for an upcoming great granddaughter…which improved her speech talking to Graecyn Lou (after Lucille).  Even though she would get very frustrated that she couldn't always get the right words to come out, we learned to play charades and figure it out.  Even though she couldn't always speak she learned she could enjoy life to its fullest with out words!  She enjoyed going to work with Tonee at 1 North Main (no adult labor laws involved!).  She enjoyed helping and putzing around there, making buns and caramel rolls, riding the golf cart for Thursday night ladies night, and spending many hours with baby Graecyn.  Those six months are a gift that we all found our spot in…and so did she!

Lucille was a member of Valle Lutheran Church in Rolette.  On Monday, September 21, 2020 where visitation will be at Noon, funeral at 2:00 p.m. followed by burial at Westland Cemetery in rural Rolette with Pastor Jim Odden officiating.  Caskets Bearers are Lucille's grandchildren.

Lucille is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Jay) Heinz of Rolette, Cheryl (Jody) VanderWal of Horace, Tonee (Michael) Matteson of Garrison, and Marla (Donn) Oakland of Hazen; ten grandchildren, Gerry (Michelle) Beaver, Glenda (Jeremy) Swartz, Aaron Rosecrans, Seth Rosecrans, Jayden (Amanda) Oakland, Shayne (Codie) VanderWal, Breaunna Oakland (James Jaramillo), Brittney VanderWal, McKaila (Nick) Behles, and McKenzie Matteson; great grandchildren, Jeffery Beaver, Payton Fauske, Brody and Macey Swartz, Layne and Weston VanderWal, and Graecyn Behles; also in her life a very special brother-in-law and his wife, Lamoine and June Beaver along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, one grandchild, Preston Jamison Oakland, and one great granddaughter, Julie Beaver.

Lucille's family would like to Thank two very special people that started as renters and became like family.  These two enabled Lucille to live on the farm since 2008 with all their help from snow removal, lawnmower repairs, many tv remotes and Rumba lessons!  Thank you, Doug and Mario Lemieux.  Lucille treasured your visits and friendships.
