Louis Edward Peltier Sr., age 60, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND.

Louis Edward Peltier Sr. was born on July 24, 1960 in Devils Lake, ND to Fred and Bernice (Peltier) Peltier.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Louis enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1988.  He was united in marriage to Sandy Ann LaVallie on September 5, 1991 at St. Ben's Catholic Church, Belcourt.  Louis Sr. was the proud father of nine children, Louis Jr., LouAnn, Lucas, Lance, Sandra, Mary, Nicole, Randy, and Charles.  He worked at the Sky Dancer Casino, the Belcourt Fire Department, and road construction throughout the years.  Louis enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and all activities outdoors, and playing pool. He loved time spent with his family members, especially playing with his grandchildren.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Louis Sr. is survived by his wife, Sandy Peltier of Belcourt; children, Louis Jr. (Brandi) Peltier of Belcourt, LouAnn Peltier of Grand Forks, Lucas Peltier of Belcourt, Lance Peltier of Young America, MN, Sandra Peltier of Belcourt, Mary Peltier of Belcourt, Nicole Peltier-Lindquist of Wishek, and Randy Peltier of Oregon; parents, Fred and Bernice Peltier of Belcourt; 19 grandchildren, Theresa DeCoteau, Cloe Peltier, Victoria DeLong, Lilly Peltier, Louis Peltier III, Makayla Azure, Michael Peltier, Sandy Peltier, Christina Peltier, Linda Hollis, Azariah Peltier, Jensen Bercier, Kylie Lilley, Florentine Peltier, Joey Peltier, Hailey Lindquist, Jaylynn Miller, Jordan Lindquist, and Tylan Peltier; siblings, Kenny Peltier of Dunseith, Marilyn Peltier of Belcourt, Julie LaVallie of Chicago, IL, Cecelia Peltier of Wash., and Regina Wallette of Rolla; and nieces and nephews.

Louis Sr. was preceded in death by his son, Charles Peltier, sisters, Sheila Jeanotte-Peltier and Bernadine Gourneau, grandparents, Prudent and Gladys Peltier, and mother-in-law, Mary Ann Short-LaVallie.

Casket Bearers are Louis Peltier Jr., David Bercier, Lucas Peltier, Linus Wallette, Salcedo Sarcia, and Waylon Morin.  Military Honors by the Lilley-Dionne American Legion Post #262 of Belcourt and the Military Funeral Honor Guard of Grand Forks, ND.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the church with Fr. Tony Hession presiding.  Burial will take place at a later date.  A meal will follow funeral services at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.
