Linus LaVallie, age 76, of St. John, ND passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Linus Darrell LaVallie was born on February 18, 1947 in Belcourt, ND to Alfred and Mary (Amyotte) LaVallie.  He attended school at Flandreau, SD and Wahpeton, ND.  Linus was united in marriage to Mary Ann Short on January 25, 1966.  He was the proud father of twelve children, Alice, Faye, Sandy, LeeAnn, Joseph, Loretta, Jodi, Cynthia, George, Alfred, Linus Jr., and Tammy.  Linus worked various jobs throughout his life including for the road garage, at Skydancer Casino in maintenance, farming, and haying to Mike Keplin.  He also worked in California for a time.  Linus enjoyed spending days sitting on his front porch and watching his grandchildren play.  He loved time spent with his family members and keeping up with them daily on his phone.  Linus enjoyed the outdoors bailing for Mike and watching westerns.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Linus is survived by his children, Alice (John) Scott, Faye (Ed) Scott, Sandy Peltier, LeeAnn (Dennis) Houle, Loretta (Russell) Belgarde, all of Belcourt, Joseph LaVallie of Grand Forks, Jodi (Gabriel) Silveira of Missoula, MT, Cynthia LaVallie of St. John, and George LaVallie of Belcourt; grandchildren, John LaVallie, Eric LaVallie, Shane Scott, Pamela Scott, Amber Scott, Edward LaVallie, Darrell Scott, Cody Scott, Tyler Scott, Crystal Scott, Louis Peltier Jr., Lucas Peltier, LouAnn Peltier, Sandra Peltier, MaryAnn Peltier, Lance Peltier, Dennis Houle Jr., Ann Fleetwood, Angel Houle, Angela Houle, Gabriel Houle, Elijah Houle, Laura Belgarde, Russell Belgarde, Loreena Belgarde, Rebecca Belgarde, Albert Belgarde, Alicia Belgarde, Sherri Belgarde, Isaiah Silveira, Anthony Silveira, Mariza Silveira, Garrett LaVallie, Cameron LaVallie, Kaden LaVallie, Leceia LaVallie, Neil Patnaude, Noah Patnaude, Nolan Patnaude, JoAnna LaVallie, JoLynn LaVallie, JoLean LaVallie, Joseph LaVallie, Chandler LaVallie, Isabelle LaVallie, George LaVallie Jr., Zachary LaVallie, Michelle LaVallie, Josette LaVallie, Robert Nadeau, Jonathan Nadeau, Josh Nadeau, Shawn Nadeau, Shelby Dunham, and Lynelle LaVallie; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Margaret Champagne of Belcourt and Mike (Shirley) LaVallie of Belcourt; sister-in-law, Elizabeth LaVallie of Belcourt; and many nieces and nephews.

Linus was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ann LaVallie, children, Alfred LaVallie, Linus LaVallie Jr., and Tammy Davis, siblings, Florestine (Frank) Champagne, Gregory LaVallie, Alfred LaVallie, Grace LaVallie, Lawrence LaVallie Sr., Kenny LaVallie Sr., and Velma Bruce, son-in-law, Louis Peltier Sr., brothers-in-law, Joseph Champagne, Alfred Short, and Maynard Short; sisters-in-law, Linda Hollis and Victoria Short; and many nieces, nephews, Greg LaVallie Jr. and Kenny LaVallie Jr., and grandchildren.

Casket Bearers are John LaVallie, Edward LaVallie, Tyler Scott, Lucas Peltier, Gabriel Houle, Isaiah Silveira, Garrett LaVallie, Chandler LaVallie, Cameron LaVallie, and Robert Nadeau. Readers are Honey, Angel, and Annie. Eucharistic Gifts by Leceia LaVallie and Cheryl Scott.  Music by Alvin Poitra.  Rosary led by Dallas and Rose Morin.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND in the spring.  A meal will be held below the church following services.
