Obituary

Lawrence LaFloe Jr., age 66, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at his home.

Lawrence "Larry" Gilbert LaFloe Jr., aka "Shoes", was born on January 27, 1957 in San Jose, California to Lawrence Sr. and Leona (McLeod) LaFloe.  He was raised in Belcourt and attended school at TM Community High School.  He enjoyed playing football, basketball, and American Legion baseball, he then graduated in 1975.

Larry furthered his education by obtaining an associate degree at TM Community College and he worked at Turtle Mountain Corporation as a machinist for many years, until they closed their doors.  In later years, he loved watching sports of all kinds, from North Dakota sports, NBA, NFL, PGA, and Nascar.  He loved playing softball and had for years.   He was a precise pitcher and home run hitter.  Larry was also an avid bowler throughout his life.

Larry excelled in all that he did.  In his down time, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles from the Minot Daily News and sudoku.  He was gifted with the most beautiful handwriting.  Larry had lived at the family home for the majority of his life.  He enjoyed family gatherings, listening to all the adults, teenagers, and young kids running around the house.

Larry enjoyed taking care of the yard.  He enjoyed his riding lawn mower and also enjoyed watching TV game shows, including the Price is Right, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.  Larry will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family members and friends.

Larry is survived by his sisters, Geraldine Grant of Minot, Theresa (Jesse) Allery of Devils Lake, Marlene LaFloe of Belcourt, Jacqueline (Scott) Selburg of Belcourt, Roberta LaFloe of Dunseith, Mary (Doug) Jeanotte of Moorhead, MN, Laurentia (Tom) Robertson of Fort Totten, Janice (Jeff) LaFloe of St. Paul, MN, and Michelle LaFloe of Rolla; brothers, Richard LaFloe of Devils Lake and Curtis (Loretta) LaFloe of Dunseith; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Leona LaFloe and sisters, Rosalie Murphy and Cecile Parisien, and nephew, DJ Hoonaert.

Casket Bearers are Michael Grant, Christopher Parisien, Shonn LaFloe, Jason Allery, Michael Selburg, Rick LaFloe, Zach LaFloe, and Bryce LaFloe.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends.  Music by Michael Selburg, Richard Turcotte, and C Joe Parisien. Honorary Bearers are all family and friends. Rosary led by Alvin and Ella McLeod.  Readers are Liz Baker and LaVonne Baker. Eucharistic Gifts by Jess and Theresa Allery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Father Michael Slovak presiding.
