Lawrence Hoffman, age 84, of Rolla, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at St. Kateri Hospital, Rolla, ND.

Lawrence Hoffman was born on May 22,1937 to Clayton and Grace (Lee) Hoffman near Dion Lake.  He grew up on the family farm in Maryville Township in Rolette County.  Lawrence attended Maryville Country School through 6 ^th grade and from there went on to graduate in 1955 from Rolla High School.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Tennancour on April 27, 1959 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Thorne, ND.  They made their home southwest of Rolla, and together raised four children; DuWayne, Dawn, Lisa and Sheri. As a family, they farmed and raised assorted livestock, which still kept them busy to this day. In addition to farming, he worked fulltime for R & O Contracting out of Rolette.

Lawrence also served on the Maryville Township Board and the Rolla School Board for many years. He maintained a strong faith in God and was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rolla.

Lawrence loved hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family, which always brought a smile to his face. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their various activities.  He frequented the Rolette Café where he enjoyed sharing stories with friends.

Lawrence will be affectionately missed by all who knew and loved him.  The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers over the last few days.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; Clayton and Grace Hoffman, his sisters, Harriet Hoffman, Mary Prouty and Hazel Klein; brothers John (Jack), Bill and Arthur Hoffman; and grandson, Michael Timmerman.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley; children; DuWayne (Lisa) Hoffman of Williston, Dawn (Allen) Kuntz of Drake, Lisa (Marvin) Timmerman of Rolla and Sheri (Mike) Peterson of Dunseith; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; Ruth Klebe of Yuma, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND.  Burial will take place in Rolette City Cemetery, Rolette, ND.   Pastor Joel Brandvold officiating.
