Lawrence "Larry" Dionne, age 71, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.
Lawrence "Larry" Dionne was born on September 25, 1950 in Belcourt, ND to Simon and Josephine (Azure) Dionne. He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well, graduating from Belcourt Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1976. Larry worked as a lineman for Northern Plains and retired after many years of service to them. He was a hard-working rancher, raising horses throughout the years. Larry was a boxer in his younger years earning Golden Glove status. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, visiting and telling jokes and stories. Larry will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Larry is survived by his children, Richard LaFountain of Rolla, Kristie Belgarde of Dunseith, Jordan Dionne of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mike DeCoteau of Bismarck, and LaShonda Azure of Belcourt; many grandchildren; siblings, Ed Dionne, Shirley DeCoteau, Joyce Morin, and Art Dionne; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Josphine Dionne and siblings, Leonard Dionne, Sonny Dionne, Irene LaFountain, Mabel Beck, and Raymond Dionne.
Military Honors provided by the Lilley-Dionne American Legion Post #262 of Belcourt and the Military Funeral Honor Guard of Fargo. Rosary led by Alice Lunday. Eucharistic gifts by Eric and Lonnie Dionne. Reader is Clayton Allard. Music by Jerry Parisien and Dave Azure.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 10:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. Father Michael Slovak, SOLT presiding.
