Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Houle, age 74, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home.

Lawrence Arthur "Larry" Houle was born on April 15, 1947 to Benedict and Anna (LaFountain) Houle.  He was raised in Belcourt, Devils Lake, and St. Paul, MN before settling permanently in Belcourt.  Larry enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and received an honorable discharge in 1969.  He was united in marriage to Sharon Longie on February 14, 1972 in Watertown, SD.  Together they had three children, Lynnelle, Tina, and Waylon Sr.  Larry worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for many years.  He enjoyed going to the casino, going fishing, mechanic work, and raising horses.  Larry loved time spent with his family members, especially his grandchildren.  He will be lovingly remembered by his family members and many friends.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Houle of Belcourt; children, Lynnelle (Linus) Houle of Belcourt, Tina Houle of Trenton, and Waylon Sr. (Tanya) Houle of Belcourt; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Waylon Jr., Chase, Dalton, Dakoda, Dallas, Dezirae, Lee, Dillon, Zaelyn, Kaylynn, Brandon, Leighten, Miranda, Sadie, Linus, Luke, Lane, Brandon Jr., Braydence, Bailie, Amanda, Christa, Chris Jr., Heather, Eugene, Wyatt, Azailia, Azaydian, Akadian, and Azariah; siblings, Ernest "Ernie" Houle of Rolette, Barbara Houle of Belcourt, Lynette Turcotte of Belcourt, Dennis (LeAnn) Houle of Rolette, and Debbie (Sonny) McCanna of Devils Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, Miranda, Devin, and Linus Jr., and siblings, Ronald, Joe, John, Kurt, and Dave Houle, Marie Kenmille, and Linda Franssen.

Casket Bearers are Rodney Peltier, Linus Parisien, Lorin Longie, Waylon Houle Jr., Lee Houle, Amanda Houle, Dalton Houle, Chase Houle, Christa Laducer, and Christopher Laducer.  Military Honors by the Lilley-Dionne American Legion of Belcourt, ND and the Military Funeral Honor Guard of Grand Forks, ND.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM and Rosary Service will be at 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.  Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  A meal will be held following burial services at the KC Hall in Belcourt, ND.
