Obituary

Laurie LaRocque, age 61, of St. John, ND passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at her home surrounded by loving family.

Laurie Marie LaRocque was born on March 15, 1960 in Belcourt, ND to Lucy LaFromboise.  She was raised in Belcourt with a period of time spent in Trenton, eventually returning back to the Turtle Mountain area. She graduated high school in Belcourt.  Laurie was united in marriage to Kenneth LaRocque on February 14, 1981 in St. John, the priest declaring that regardless of what they think, God brought them together and nothing or no one will tear them apart. They settled in St. John where they built their life together, raising their three children.  Laurie spent years caring for her family, supporting and encouraging her husband through military service, police academy, and years in law enforcement. She had worked the Head Start in St. John, the-then Rainbow Café in St. John alongside her sisters-in-law when it was operated by her mother-in-law Joann; she also worked at the Bilmar Hotel in Rolla prior to settling at LaDot's, where she worked for over ten years before leaving to care for grandchildren. Laurie has spent the past several years as a wonderful homemaker, caring for and spending time with her family, lovingly watching over while spoiling them whenever she had an opportunity to do so.

She loved to work on crossword puzzles, diamond dot/coloring pictures, loved to read and was an avid King and Koontz fan. Though she did not like the "empty nest", Laurie cherished more time with and caring for her husband. Laurie enjoyed visiting over coffee with her mother-in-law, her sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, all her 'baby girls'. She loved and thoroughly enjoyed all the trips she went on with her husband, from Alaska to Mississippi and finally getting to put her feet in the ocean. Laurie was proud of and encouraged all her husband and children accomplished and could even dream of because she only forever and always wanted the best for them and that they would be happy. Laurie never allowed anything to matter more than her family and was immovable as stone in that aspect.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Kenneth LaRocque of St. John; children, Genista (Jesse) Hill of Weyers Cave, VA, Jennifer (Tad) LaRocque of Trenton, and Kenneth Jr. (Susie) LaRocque of Grand Forks; step-daughter Tasha (Bradley) Courtney of St. Amant, Louisiana; grandchildren, Seth Wayne Mychel, Peyton Henry, Jes Brandon, Aurora Sky, Kaleb Andrew, Logan Michael, Aiden Christopher, Shalome Krisselle, Chantelle Mary, Lauren Alexis, Serenity Marie, great-granddaughters Novah Lynn and Niyah Marie; brother, Dave LaFromboise of Mandan

Laurie was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy LaFromboise and brothers, Dean LaFromboise and Leon LaFromboise, and two Angel baby grandchildren.
