Obituary

Laura Hendrickson, age 55, of Rolla, ND passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 24, 2021 while on vacation in Lead, SD.

Laura Kay (Havig) Hendrickson was born on April 6, 1966 in Rolette ND to Orville and Vera (Beaver) Havig.  She was raised on the farm in the Rolette area and completed her education there as well, graduating from Rolette High School in 1984.  Laura was a member of the Ox Creek Lutheran church in Rolette and later Our Saviors Lutheran church in Rolla.  She devoted time to helping with Sunday school, vacation bible school and teen bible study.

Laura met Rick Hendrickson in 1986, they later married on April 24, 2006.  They made their home in Rolla, ND for 35 years, raising 3 boys; Lee, Derrick and Peyton.  Laura and Rick worked hard to build their own business, R&D Hendrickson trucking, teaching their boys the values of hard work and the importance of working together as a family.  Laura was also an active member of the community, serving as an EMT for the Rolla community ambulance service for many years, a longtime friend of the Rolla Volunteer fire department, and offered her time and talents to any community event or fundraiser.

Laura had numerous talents and an artistic nature which allowed her free spirit to shine through. She enjoyed any crafting hobbies including quilting, sewing, crocheting, painting and wood working.  She owned and operated a ceramic store, flower and quilt shop at various points of her life.  Recently she enjoyed teaching painting classes with her Gallery on the Go business. If she wasn't crafting, rest assured Laura was probably at the lake.  She enjoyed this time with any family and friends. All were welcome and the memories made are something we will hold onto dearly.

Laura is survived by her husband, Rick; sons, Lee (Carrie) Havig of Walcott, Derrick (Danielle) Hendrickson of Rolla, Peyton Hendrickson (Morghann Gable) of Rolla; 3 grandchildren, Kaden Preston, Liam Hendrickson and Jasmine Havig; her siblings, Phyllis (Darrel) Abrahamson of St. John, Arlene Havig of Bismarck, Julie (Pete) Deichert of Raleigh, Irene (Terry) Karnopp of Bismarck, Andy Havig of Rolette, Emily Tumey of Rolette, and Curtis Havig of Grand Forks; her mother-in-law, Connie Hendrickson of Rolla; and numerous extended family and friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Vera Havig and father-in-law Ray Hendrickson.

Special music by Devon and Jeri Gable.  Casket Bearers are Andy Havig, Curtis Havig, Darrel Abrahamson, Raymi Hendrickson, Ron Bercier, and Devon Gable.  Honorary Bearers are all Laura's sisters, Phyllis, Arlene, Julie, Irene, and Emily.

A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the church with Pastor Nicholas Rohde officiating.  Burial will be in Ox Creek Cemetery, Rolette, ND.
