Lane Desjarlais Sr., age 29, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at his home.

Lane Floyd Desjarlais Sr was born on March 18, 1997 in Rolla, ND to Shanda Desjarlais.  He was raised by foster parents, Robin DeCoteau and Edwina Charbonneau.  Lane was a horse trainer and jack of all trades. He was the proud father of 4 children, Jayxton, Harmony, Maisyn, and Lane Jr.  Lane was a horse rider and jockey for 17 years.  He dearly loved horses from a very young age and he wanted to be the next Lane Frost, a true cowboy.  Lane enjoyed the outdoors, loved his children, as well as his nieces and nephews.  He liked telling stories, exaggerating them often, as he had a wonderful sense of humor, always teasing and telling jokes. He had a big personality, was well known, always talking to everyone.  Lane was always on the move, never staying in one place for too long but loved his family dearly and the visits they had.  He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.

Lane is survived by his mother, Shanda Desjarlais; foster parents, Robin DeCoteau and Edwina Charbonneau; children, Jayxton, Harmony, Maisyn, and Lane Jr.; siblings, Jessica, Tiffany, Robin, Skylar, Skyann, Courtney, Summer. Donald Jr., Austin, Lucusa, and Alicia; Godchild, Taelyn DeCoteau; Godparents, Jeff Parisien and Tracy Martin; nephew, Gaige DeCoteau; and nieces, Taelyn, Kamri, Myah, and Madi, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Lane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Butches and Leona DeCoteau and Roselda and Bertha Herman and sister, Angel DeCoteau.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.
