Kristy Malaterre, age 42, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at St. Kateri Hospital, Rolla, ND.

Kristy was born to Cindy Malaterre on January 31, 1980, in Belcourt, ND. She attended the Turtle Mountain Community School and later obtained her GED in 1999. Kristy worked at various jobs in the telemarketing field as a customer service representative with her most recent job at Blue Chip Financial from 2012 through 2019 when she could no longer work due to being diagnosed with cancer. Kristy was diagnosed with cancer in early 2019 and fought a long hard battle, she had the mindset that she would beat it and she gave it her all after three long years. Kristy was a fun loving, kindhearted soul who would do anything for anyone and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She loved to do diamond art and native beading. Her greatest love was things with her babies and family and just living life to the fullest.

Kristy was the proud mother of nine children, Shyenne Thomas, Jersey Thomas, Mya Grant, Malita Grant, Janessa Delonais, Kianna Delonais, Mattie Malaterre, Shaylynn Thomas, and Chloee Delonais. Kristy's babies were her world and she would so anything and everything that she could for all of them.

Kristy loved to joke and make friends with everyone that she met or had an encounter with. She makes some very close friendships with her healthcare workers and facilities throughout her battle of cancer, but no matter the amount of pain that she was in she always tried to put a smile on someone's face by cracking out a joke or just letting us know that she cared. We all loved her dearly and her will to survive will remain with us forever. She was truly a warrior and a fighter until the end.

Kristy is survived by her children, Sheyenne Thomas, Jersey Thomas, Mya Grant, Malita Grant, Janessa Delonais, Kiana Delonais, and Mattie May Malaterre. Her mother Cindy Malaterre and brothers Jesse Malaterre, Paul St. Claire, Harley Malaterre as well as her uncles Jack (Crystal) Malaterre, Joe (Valerie) Malaterre, aunt Margie Malaterre, many aunts and uncles, numerous nieces and nephews, lifelong friend Nicole Pound, and many friends adopted along the way.

Kristy was preceded in death by her daughters Shaylynn Thomas (her stillborn angel) and Chloee Delonais (her seven-month-old baby in July of 2008), her maternal grandparents Andrew and Rosella Malaterre, uncle Ivan Malaterre, aunts Ivy Malaterre, and Janice Malaterre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service/Eulogy at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.  Father Fred Alexander presiding.
